El lugar

Our Location
Located just miles east of historic Heart Mountain in Powell WY, lies Big Quiet Camping within the Common Ground Farms. This farm is one of the only USDA certified organic ranches in the state of Wyoming, and is also home to Rocky Mountain Organic Meats.

The Land
Gaze across thousands acres of beautiful grassland and sagebrush and witness the natural wonders that brought many Native Americans to Heart Mountain to harness its healing energy. If you’re looking to immerse yourself in a cowboy camping experience then come to Big Quiet Camping. Enjoy the big starry skies, untamed lands and the rich cultural history of the Big Horn Basin.

Activities
They say the best part of camping is sitting around the campfire at night; Wide open skies above you, the sound of coyotes howling in the distance. That stuff is real, not just fiction made up in spaghetti westerns, and that's why we have built a communal fire pit. Come on down and bring your harmonica, ukulele, guitar, djembe, or dobro!

If staying up late and burning the midnight oil around the fire isn't your thing there are numerous other activities on the ranch to partake in. We have a horseshoe pit, numerous hiking and mountain bike trails nearby, and you can also take a tour of the ranch and learn a little bit about where our nation's food really comes from.

Disponible para huéspedes

We have over 250 acres of land surrounded by thousands of public land that is open to explore! You have access to Heart Mountain for day hikes, elevation at the top 8,200 feet. The views are worth the effort.

For the consideration of the other campers enjoying Big Quiet Camping please try to arrive and check in before dark.

Atención a los huéspedes

At our organic ranch, we believe that respectful and sustainable food production is one of the most important things we can do to help solve our world's health and energy problems. We raise our animals in a humane setting that allows them the freedom they were meant to have from birth; wide open spaces and native vegetation. Our garden of various foods are grown without any pesticides or chemicals, and are planted, weeded, and harvested all by hand.

We believe that everyone should know where their food comes from.

My overall experience at the cabin was slightly disappointing. I'm not immune to country living and love a rustic retreat, but I found the advertised description and price point somewhat unmatched with the actual cabin. Overall Rod has a lovely location but there were some issues I found with the accommodations. With this all being said, Rod was quick to refund half of the rate once I brought these elements to his attention.

We had such an amazing time! Plans changed a bit due to the weather, but we're so glad! The Japanese cabin was absolutely perfect! Martha was a wonderful host, and made us very comfortable and welcome (as did Dragon and Lucy, the border collies!). Great breakfast and conversation, too! Thank you for a beautiful break from our cross country move! Lisa

Wish things would have been a little cleaner but it worked for a base for exploring yellow stone. If I'm back in the area I will probably opt for a hotel room.

Respuesta de Rod:
Brian - Sorry you did not read the directions on the kitchen table which clearly states the Japanese soaking tub is wooden and has to have water left in it after use, or else it will dry out, crack and lose its integrity. We always clean the cabin before each guest arrives. If a totally sanitized environment appeals to you more than staying on a farm, then, yes, a hotel room in town may be a better fit for you.

This was my 3rd visit to Big Quiet Camping. I've stayed in the teepees and both cabins - by myself, with my boyfriend, and also with my kids and their grandparents - and I loved every minute of each trip. Rod & Lynn make us feel so at home at their ranch and the beautiful serenity of the area is so calming and rejuvenating and we love the farm animals! We will be back for many many for trips in the years to come.

Thanks, Holli, for your review, your support of our Airbnb endeavor, our animals (especially Border Collies Dragon & Lucy), and our vision. We look forward to hosting you, your friends and your family for many years to come!
