Modern styled room in idylic house in quiet and peaceful location in the west of Oslo. Upscale neighborhood with nearby shops at walking distance. Very near public transportation (2 min walking distance) with metro towards Holmenkollen (5 min) Ski jump and downtown (15 min) every 15 min (see (Website hidden by Airbnb) for detailed info). Walking to Majorstuen will take about 30 min. Direct access to ski and walking trails in the forest. Nearby beautiful lake of Båntjern and Sognsvann.
About the room: room with lovebed (120 cm), extra single bed and sofa. Shared shower and toilet. This room sleeps 3 persons. Extra friends or family could sleep in the connecting room (bunkbeds + one single bed for up to 3 p).
About the surroundings: at the lake of Båntjern, you can spend the entire day at the lake floating on a mattrass or jumping from a rope tied to a tree or diving from a wooden handmade diving board high up in a tree. Pure Norway!
From the lake you can take a hike up at Vettakolltoppen and enjoy the tremendous view over the city.
You can also bicycle (or take the metro) to the open air swimming pool Frognerbadet in the Frognerpark (Vigelandsparken), This is extremely popular amoung youngsters. It has a 10 meter diving board and great picnic places.
If you love nature, the house is at walking distance to connecting trails and hiking paths. You can endlessly walk or bike in nature or go from a cabin to a cabin tour. Recommended is a hike to Skjennungenstua which has great homemade cinnamon rolls and other goodies.
Perfectly in summer as well as winter when the hiking trails are turned into ski trails.
Just do what the locals do, put on your skiing shoes and hop on the metro or walk into the nearby woods. A great feeling to be able to go cross country skiing so nearby on fresh prepared tracks while you enjoy the pureness and the white frosted trees. Accessible and basically free. All you need is a pair of cross country ski´s and shoes. Nature is right at your finger tips.
Why not rent ski equipment and take a ski lesson at Oslo Winterpark? The metro station takes you to Tryvann in 15 min. You can practice snowboarding, downhill, telemark and cross country skiing.
Want to have a memory for life (and a good laugh)? Rent a sledge and sledge down the Olympic "Korketrekkern". It is unbelievable fun!
Or visit the famous ski jump at Holmenkollen? This ski jump can be seen from my house.
If you want to explore the city, you take the metro nearby the house and 12 min later you are in the centre. Go explore the famous Vigelandspark, the new Opera House, exciting restaurants at popular Grünnerløkka, the harbour and night life at Aker Brygge.
