El lugar

This corner breezy room has a twin set trundle that fits 2 comfortably. You can view the treelined street and all the greenery with private bathroom.

If you are looking to come to Manila and NOT live in the polluted, dirty, humid and sticky city, but view it from a distance at a higher elevation, cooler, (20C-24C at night to 31C during the day) and greener surrounds, this is the place for you. My home is not in the heart of bustling Metro Manila. It is great opportunity to check out the sights, on the eastern side of Manila.

Fairmount Hills, where I live, is lovely, and secure. It is a gated community that is very green. You will hear the birds in the morning.

It's worth coming to Manila with a guidebook from Lonely Planet or the like. It can give you a good overall layout of the city and what there is to do.

From the airport:
My home is only 18 kilometers away from Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Best to take a taxi from the airport. It will run around $25.

Getting around Antipolo City:
You can call the gate house and they can send a taxi or motorized tricycle to take you around Antipolo City.

Getting around Metro Manila: The tricycle can take you to the station, where you can take a minivan to various cities in Metro Manila.

You can also take the minivan to the Light Rail Transit in Marikina City. The LRT is the fastest way to get around Metro Manila but you need to watch your wallets and mobile phones. Do not bring any major IDs and keep only cash that you can protect. They are pretty slick.the various cities such as Makati and Quezon City.

There are jeepneys but that can be very slow. You might be better off taking a FX minivan or a taxi to the other cities in Metro Manila. If you are adventurous, the LRT is the way to go. In this city, where the traffic is almost a standstill, the LRT gets you around. Please note not to travel during peak hours cause the lines to get into the LRT are incredibly long.

Directly west of Antipolo on Ortigas Extension, will take you to Fashion Mall, MegaMall in Pasig City.

I will not write about how beautiful or clean this house is - afterall, our appreciation of beauty and tolerance for dirt, vary from one person to the next. But let me tell you this: my first airbnb experience couldn't have been better. And this is mainly because of the Wendy's warmth as a host and Nene's tasty home cooked meals. Consider this sms I sent to one of my friends: "This place is awesome. I didn't know one could get mornings as peaceful as the one I had earlier from a place so close to Manila. I'm now now having ice-cold Pale Pilsen with Wendy... talking about life goals - the one thing we should focus on ... all those talk with the exploding crimson and golden colors of Manila bay sunset as backdrop". I will surely be back. (It was great spending the weekend with Wendy, Shane and Meriam)

Boyfriend and I went to Isabel's place last week to check out if this is suitable for our dream intimate breakfast wedding reception, and of course to convince Isabel to allow us do that. We arrived around 5PM which is perfect time to witness the sunset. Isabel's house is really LOVELY, posh, airy and you'll have everything you need in a lazy staycation. I have never appreciated the view of metro manila this much. I cannot count the number of times I said "Ang ganda" when we were in our room. It was a cold, quiet night in Antipolo and we didnt have to turn the aircon on. Isabel is very accomodating and we even had a healthy dinner together, cooked by Nene. Isabel always reply to my text messages even after our stay. We are very blessed to find her home and have Isabel agree to make it a part of our biggest day. Thank you so much, Isabel! See you soon!

The Place: Ms. Isabel's place is very beautiful, a great place to stay to getaway from the stress of the city. There are three nice bedrooms available to stay-in. Wish we could have stayed on the side of the house facing the sunset though (awesome sunset cityscape view), but our room was still very nice. The People: Ms. Isabel is very warm and accommodating. She made sure to meet us when we got there and see us off on check-out. Her dogs were quite the characters as well. Make sure too look for Mr Hobbes.

It was our second time to stay at Isabel's place. We went back because our experience was so wonderful. Her place is beautifully furniture with warm Filipino taste, with a relaxing garden, spacious and clean, and most of all the view is fantastic. Isabel is always responsive and had no problem communicating about our arrival schedule, our plan to cook using her kitchen, about our breakfast, etc. This time we checked in past 7pm so we missed the sunset view! I highly recommend checking in before sunset time and enjoy the amazing view! But even if you miss sunset, you have the whole night to just doing nothing but watching the city lights of Metro Manila.

I grew up in Manila but spent a total of 30 years in the US plus a couple of years in Montreal, Quebec. I recently returned to Antipolo, after living in the US for 13 years. My sons are both in the US. I am an artist - fashion accessories designer, graphic designer, and a crafter. I also have a small export business. Music is very dear to me. I love jazz and brasilian music. Traveling is a passion of mine, whether it's in the Philippines or overseas. I designed and built my home in 1997 and it makes me very happy to be here, enjoying the sunsets, listening to the symphony of birds at 5am, and having all the greenery which is not to be had in Metro Manila.

What's important to me are the people I love, my dogs Hobbes, my pug, and Indira, my mutt puppy, the places I've been, and the memories that I make along the way. I do yoga and am a Zen practitioner. I meditate daily. This is a home full of love, and joy and peace.

Since it's only myself here, it is not quite economical for me to live here on my own. This is why I am sharing my little square of paradise with you. I hope you will appreciate it as much as I do.
