PLACES TO EAT & DRINK

There is a wide variety of types of foods to eat & places to go but below are some of our favorites

Yucca Valley

Frontier Café - Gourmet coffee, Kombucha on tap, beer & wine, sandwiches & salads in a cool, eclectic space with free WiFi & frequent live music. Right in the heart of downtown Yucca Valley.

Cali Greens – “Fresh Food Done Right” lots of great food options including great breakfast, burgers, wraps, salads, smoothies & juices. Plus, lots of great local art & goods available to purchase.

Las Palmas – Great sit-down Mexican Food and cheap margaritas.

Gadi’s Bar & Grill – great beer selection with nice bartenders and late hours. Also Karaoke

John’s Place – your typical fast diner food, cheap & quick.

Aki Sushi – Yes, Sushi in the desert, weird but we like it!

Kasa Carniceria & Taqueria – we’ll share with you our hidden gem in the back of the Mexican Market you’ll find some great tacos & burritos for great prices!

Joshua Tree

The Natural Sisters Café – clean & healthy spot with lots of vegan & vegetarian options

The Crossroads Café – Great spot for lunch but be ready for a long line on the weekends

Joshua Tree Coffee Company – The Best coffee. Period.

Pie For The People – Great pizza options with some unique flavor combinations in a fun atmosphere with beer & wine and pizza by the slice available.

Joshua Tree Saloon – The place to go when visiting Joshua Tree for a hearty steak, cold beer & fun atmosphere in an old western style saloon.

Twentynine Palms

29 Palms Inn – Established in 1928. Historic desert inn located at the 9,000 year-old Oasis of Mara in the Mojave Desert, California. Across our 70-acre property find an eclectic mix of guest adobe bungalows and wood frame cabins from the 1920's. They specialize in seafood & steaks with a full bar. Make sure to take time to walk around the property and learn the history of the Oasis of Mara.

Rocky’s New York Style Pizzeria – Nothing fancy, just good ol’ pizza with arcade games and pitchers.

The Palms Restaurant – Locals spot with cheap burgers & drinks and live music. You must see it to understand it.

PLACES TO GO & THINGS TO DO

Joshua Tree National Park (11 minutes away) – that’s why you’re here right? Don’t forget to stop at the Visitor Center on your way in for some extra insight from the great park rangers. Some of our favorite spots are Barker Dam, Skull Rock, Discovery Trail, Keys View Overlook & The Cholla Gardens.

Pioneertown (10 minutes away) – take a step back in time by walking through this historical town that started as an old west movie set from the 1800’s turned into a real western town now with pottery, art & clothing shops as well as the famous Pappy & Harriet’s Saloon. Don’t forget your camera for lots of photo opportunities.

Pioneertown Mountain Preserve (15 minutes away) – open daily from dawn to dusk and no entrance fee. This area is nice to hike around with lots of history including ancient petroglyphs if you look closely. Our favorite for a relaxing hike is Pipes Canyon. Leashed Dogs are permitted on these trails.

Integraton (20 minutes away) – The self-proclaimed “fusion of Art, Science and Magic.” The unique structure was built starting in the 1950’s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the National Park Service. Its main purpose is This is an unforgettable sound experience for those who seek deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and introspection. All Sound Baths are 60-minute sonic healing sessions. Please note there is a fee and limited open hours. Still could be worth the drive just to see it from the outside.

Amboy (1 hour) – Once booming town on historical Route 66, now iconic California ghost town. You can hike to the Amboy crater, an extinct volcano or take photos at the famous Roy’s Diner.

Other Activities Around Town & Beyond: Check out the Antique Shops throughout Yucca Valley, Cactus Mart in Morongo Valley has native plants and cactus to take back home with you, Joshua Tree Farmers Market on Saturdays and Palm Springs which is a famous resort town just 30 minutes away (don’t miss the Aerial Tramway!)
