The Lakeside is about 1,000 sq. ft. On the 2nd floor of this 135-year old brick home on Big Stone Lake. Have all the comforts of today. We are on/above Big Stone Lake & in town. This is a very hilly area along the lake; park-like with all the trees. You’ll have a door security code sent to you 2 days prior.
COVID: No one has been in your space for 3 to 4 days. You share the stairway (also constantly cleaned) with the Tower Suite, check before entering.
No smoking on the property.

El alojamiento
This was a family home until the l930's, when the upstairs was converted into two apartments. We rent both. Guests have about 1,000 square feet which includes private entrance, bedroom (Queen Gel-top mattress), living room, shower/bath, dinette, kitchen, & a deck in the trees. Also, new to the Lakeside Suite is a day bed, with new mattress (twin) & trundle underneath. We live on the main floor and try to be available if you have any questions. This suite is best suited to 2 adults & children as the twin beds are most comfortable for them. Monthly renters may want to google me. The price is for two.
Please be sure to include them when you book as they are priced separately. Thank you.

Acceso para huéspedes
Our free Valet Service as of 2-28-18 has been suspended due to Covid. The
driveway is requires an AWD or 4WD to maneuver the hill. It's too steep for cars or long-bed pick-ups. If you have a car, there are several spaces above the house where I parked for 20 years. There are 19 interior stairs to the suite. If you can, the climb is worth it. The deck brings you up in the trees with the birds and squirrels & a quiet you won't believe. I provide coffee for the c.maker & muffins. If you wish to cook, the kitchen has the necessary equipment--you bring the food. Otherwise, there are 2 coffee shops about 3 blocks away.

Otros aspectos destacables
In our yard, you can go down to the dock or the beach is just a block away. We have a small basketball court and a fire pit for smores. There are several kinds of bike rides, serene nature-filled flat rides or as many hills as one could ask for. Fishing & hunting are big activities here, and swimming, and so much nature to see--virgin prairie, birds of all types, the wildlife refuge, the lake, the Nielson Park Trails just above us, and my personal favorite, all sunsets right out front.

Lakewood Lodge is a great place for dinner & just up the road a mile. Our Carnegie Library is a block away. Many Friday nights Sioux Historic Pavillion built in the early 1900's, still is open for rollerskating and is just a mile away. Ortonville was a tourism hot spot at the turn of the century, and parts of that time are still alive in our downtown.
Across the lake are some of the original cabins built for Chautauqua Park, a community learning & vacation center active at the turn-of-the-century and into the 1930's. Many local artists show their work downtown and we now have a new art gallery. There are several antique treasure troves to visit. I have quite a few myself and have them displayed downstairs if you'd like to shop or look on Etsy for Prairiemere. For being on the prairie, the immediate area is very hilly, thickly wooded, and situated at the south end of Big Stone Lake. You can expect to watch nature up close. My husband & I have lived here all our lives and can direct you to anything you wish to see.

My favorite things are photography, writing, sculpting, meeting new people who come through this little town & selling on Etsy. Shop name, Prairiemere. I walk everyday, love my family, reading, and growing flowers. I like food, but can't seem to commit to cooking, and always drop everything for storm clouds or a lovely sunset. As a host, I care that your beds are clean and comfortable (pillow tops), that everything is decorated well, and you get quiet for a good night's sleep. I've lived here for my forever and can direct you to nearly anything the area has to offer or know someone who can. We have a 130-year-old home located on Big Stone Lake. It's pretty here, in the middle of the prairies, we are hills, valleys, trees, and water. My motto, I suppose, would be respect everyone and the earth.
