Grace and John booked a 28 day stay at our property. I found them very personable and initially friendly people who left our property in good order. Unfortunately, our guests arrived to an unacceptable debris filled back yard (left by our pool contractor during construction) that was resolved within 24 hours of their arrival. Additionally, 8 days in advance of their arrival, they were offered a choice to have a pool screen enclosure installed (which would be a day and a half disruption in the pool area) or the screen enclosure could be installed after their vacation. They chose to have the screen enclosure installed during their stay. This was not necessary but I respected their wishes and proceeded with the install. They were generously compensated for both inconveniences with a choice of a private 3-4 hour boat cruise that I paid for and organized with a local Captain or a FL tax credit. They chose the boat cruise. Yet, any additional outdoor activity became a reason for John to complain and eventually request a large discount after his departure. According to John, their peaceful Holidays were ruined as a result of two additional visits by outdoor lawn activity and maintainance. This accumulated to a grand total of 3-5 hours of outdoor lawn activity. As their stay continued, I truly feel John's goal was to magnify anything he could completely out of proportion in an attempt to obtain a further discount whether it was a broken downspout being repaired or a pool service technician knocking on the door to make sure all was well with the pool. Admittedly, our pool contractor fell behind on our pool construction and that created unacceptable disruptions. John and Grace were well compensated and in a creative way that I thought would make their vacation more memorable. Instead, a list of petty grievances with a demand for an additional large unwarranted discount is how I was repaid. I would not rent to them again under any circumstances.
