This private, one-room, cottage with hard-wood floors, a/c, and angled sky lights is nestled in an enchanted East Nashville yard, from which you'll enjoy fresh honey from the beehives (when we've got some) and fresh eggs from the hens.
This cottage is the perfect getaway for a guest who wants both the peace and quiet of a remote cabin and the excitement of city life. The yard is a magical place, a kind of small urban farm, very private and bird-filled and surrounded by trees and flowers. Close by is anything else you need: grocery stores, coffee shops, bars, and restaurants. We're only four miles from the heart of downtown, and a quick trip to Five Points, Opry Mills, and other great East Nashville spots.
Disponible para huéspedes
There's a full bathroom in the main house (a quick walk across the yard) that will be open to the guest 24/7, and used by the guest alone. Other than that, everything you'll need is in the cottage: A/C, kitchenette, stove, coffee maker, wifi, bed (futon), refrigerator, sink, toaster, stereo, etc. Plenty of parking. A large yard surrounds the cabin on all sides. We also provide homegrown honey (when in season) and fresh eggs from the hens. There's a grill that you're welcome to use, and a fire pit in the yard for small camp fires. There's an herb garden with basil, mint, thyme, rosemary, and a few other items. You're also welcome to anything growing in the larger garden--on a good week: tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, hot peppers, lettuce. No guarantees on the availability of garden items, honey, or eggs, though the hens do typically lay daily.
Atención a los huéspedes
I will be in my office in the big house most of the time, or you may occasionally see me working in the yard. I'm always available via phone if you need anything at all.

*UPDATE: if you book in the winter months, there will be two medium-sized, very friendly dogs on the property who will come try to visit you now and then. Feel free to toss the ball for them, let them into the cottage, or to turn them away entirely :)
If you're at all outdoorsy, you'll love it. You'll wake up to the sounds of chirping birds, with lovely sunshine falling through the skylights. The hens might come to your door for a visit (seeking snacks...). I've just added a portable, floor-standing air-conditioner, which cools the place nicely, but it's certainly optional and when it's not too hot out I recommend opening the door and turning on a fan to enjoy the morning.
If you have a real aversion to seeing an insect now and then, or require super-cold air-conditioning or a full kitchen to be comfortable, you should probably consider staying elsewhere. But if you're looking for a quiet, peaceful place to hang out, listen to some tunes, and get a good night's sleep, the cabin might just be your place. Drop me a message if you have any questions!
Things you may want to bring:
- mosquito repellent, if you intend to spend time in the yard
- drinking water, if you need your water filtered or special in any way
- flip flops -- makes getting to the bathroom less of a chore
You're welcome to have guests over for a back yard fire, but please keep the fire small and manageable and contained in the metal pit. Alcohol and tobacco are allowed, but no rowdy parties, please. (Please smoke only outside.) You're also welcome to bring a dog, but only if you're absolutely 100% certain it won't go after our hens! (A leash-check with the hens is a necessary prerequisite before the pup runs loose.)
Please do not enter any rooms of the big house that you haven't been shown are for guest use.
If you come back late from honky tonkin', please do so quietly so as not to disturb the neighbors :)
