We used this house as a family retreat for 3 couples for 4 nights between Christmas and New Years. First off, Anie was easy to communicate with and all of the information regarding the house was provided in advance. The house was easy to find according to the directions.
The location was wonderful. It was located about 20 minutes from the base of Mont Sainte Anne, and just over 60 minutes east of Quebec City. There is a convenience store a quick 2 minute drive away for alcohol, snacks, wood, and a few staples. There are larger grocery stores in Beaupre (where Mont Sainte Anne is). The house is located on a major road/highway, but there was minimal noise from passing cars.
The property itself is quite beautiful, and so is the surrounding landscape. We were able to go snowshoeing one day, although it was quite cold. The drive to Quebec City is very nice and the sunsets in the area were beautiful.
The house was equipped with enough towels and linen for the entire group. The beautiful wood fireplace was used every night, and it was a nice feature.
The kitchen was well stocked with plates/glasses/utensils/pots but was missing a few other items that would have been nice (baking sheets/casserole dishes to put in the oven). We had to purchase toilet paper, paper towel and tissue paper during our stay. As well, there was a dishwasher but there was only enough detergent to run three loads.
The only food items that were available were a few seasonings (salt, pepper, etc.) that looked very old.
The house states it sleeps 10 (there were 5 bedrooms), but I think it would be hard to have more than 6 adults in the house. The couches, although very comfortable, only sat 5 people. The two dining tables (one in kitchen and one in dining room) each sat 6 people.
Being an older house, noise carried everywhere. It was very easy to hear people through the walls, on different floors and just walking about. If you are a light sleeper, earplugs are a must.
The TV satellite TV worked fine, but the remote control was broken, so channels had to be changed on the box. As well, the house had Wi-Fi but could not handle all of our devices. We counted and we had 11 Wi-Fi enabled devices with us (phones, tablets, laptops) and even if we were only using our phones for email, the speed was terrible. We had to all only connect to it when it was required.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay. It was a perfect size for the 6 of us and the location was perfect. There were a few issues that could have made our stay better, but over all we were happy with our stay.
