Welcome to the guest room in your quiet NE Portland home. (The living room and the full bath are yours, too.) Lovely walk to shops & restaurants. 10-min drive to city center. Public transit to everywhere. Ultrathick queen futon—plan to sleep well!

Please note! We no longer serve breakfast.

El lugar

Your private bedroom, on the main floor, has south-facing windows that provide natural light all day. When the sun goes down, well, many guests swear that this queen bed has given them the best night's sleep of their lives. It's a thick, cotton futon with a foam core—not one of those fold-up doubles-as-a-couch futons (the kind that make people think they don't like futons) but a luxurious, ridiculously comfortable big honkin' mattress just like the one we sleep on—comfortably—every night.

Disponible para huéspedes

We will welcome you at the front door. That is your entrance during your stay.

Exclusively yours: 1st-floor bedroom and the full bath (a few feet from the bedroom).
Shared with us and possibly one or two other guests: TV room, kitchen, dining room, backyard BBQ & garden.

We live on the top floor of the house, so the living room (which is on the main floor, right next to your bedroom) is almost always available for your use. A few evenings each week, however, we invite our guests to join us there for wine, cheese & crackers, and conversation.

Atención a los huéspedes

We happily interact with you as much or as little as you like. Between us—Marcia, the night owl, and Ray, the early riser—we are available just about any time.

We live primarily on the 2nd floor of the house. We visit the 1st floor (where you live) to cook, sometimes to eat, and, during PAC-12 football season, to watch TV.

We have another gorgeous AirBnB rental space in the basement; guests staying there sometimes join us for evening conversation in the living room.

Ray has lived in Portland for 40+ years. Marcia's been here for almost 7 years. We don't dine out often, but we know of several wonderful places to eat, and our guests give us recommendations too. If you want opinions about what's outstanding (as opposed to merely great) in Portland, we're happy to share ours.

Otros aspectos destacables

City center is a 10-minute drive (or 20-minute bus ride ... or a nice walk) from our house, through beautiful neighborhoods; past lots of cool shops, restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops on NE Broadway; over the Willamette (wil-LAM-ette) River on the Broadway Bridge; right by Chinatown; within a stone's throw of Powell's City of Books; and into the heart of Portland.

Around Portland
Pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly, downtown Portland itself is compact and oval; it's a pleasant walk from the Pearl (northwest Portland) to the University of Portland (southwest edge of downtown Portland).

By bus, it's less than 30 minutes from your door to anywhere in the city.

If you plan to use Portland's 5-star public transportation system (Tri-Met goes everywhere), you might want to take a minute to download and familiarize yourself with the TRIMET app. (Go to (URL HIDDEN) Among the many good things the app does for you:
Shows you how to get from where you are to your nearest bus stop.
Tells you, to the minute, when the next bus arrives at your stop.
Turns your phone into a travel pass!

Do you want to know how great this neighborhood is? My girlfriend accidentally left her luggage (including open shopping bags) on the curb after we left and NOTHING was taken! (They of course moved our bags inside once they found them sitting out) And the house and hospitality were no less impressive. Very cozy and comfortable, and in a great location for seeing the town while staying in a nice quiet place. I would definitely recommend staying here for your Portland experience.

Our stay at Ray and Marcia's is my best Airbnb experience so far. Before the trip, they are really responsive in communication. Our flight were both pretty late on the day of check-in but they two stayed until we arrived and greeted us warmly with detailed instructions of the house. You can feel they are caring and welcoming the moment you talk to them. During the three-day stay, we had great conversation with Ray and Marcia. They two are living a happy life and they inspire their guests in the same way. I would highly recommend their place if you visit Portland.

Marcia and Ray are great hosts. When we arrived at the house, Marcia greeted us and showed us our room. She also gave us a map and a list of things we could do in Portland. The bed is very comfy and we also had a private bathroom to ourselves. Their house is about a 15 to 20-minute drive to downtown and is in a beautiful neighborhood. We truly enjoyed our stay at Marcia and Ray's place.
