Loved loved loved the Make Love not War Cottage. Very beautifully decorated, clean, lovely grounds. My daughters and I felt very at home. I highly recommend this place. Shauna was lovely, but only met for a short period. Communication was timely and helpful. The area is beautiful and the neighborhood quiet and very close to beach and towns. Excellent location.

The Make Love not War Cottage was beautiful, cosy and absolutely tranquil. As soon as we walked in we felt a feeling of calm. It was evident that decades of love and thought had been poured into this oasis - from the vegetable patch to the native gardens and our favourites, the outside showers and daybed. Our 2 little boys had a ball exploring the property and its surrounds. The back beach was only a short, scenic walk away. Shauna and Giovanni were both so lovely. Apart from being very flexible with check in and out times, they made us feel completely and utterly at home. We enjoyed tomatoes and cucumbers from their garden upon arrival, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We are looking forward to our next visit to this very special place.

All we can do is rave about our week at the Make Love Not War house between Christmas and early January. Giovanni and Shauna were a pleasure to deal with from the moment we booked and on day of arrival were happy to accomodate us in checking in a few hours early. The cottage and garden is absolutely magical and charming in every way and exactly as it is described and appears here. So much space, especially with the huge garden at front and back - we spent most of our time outside, and my dog loved the place, plenty of room to roam and explore. (There is no fence at the back, which abuts the national park - but my dog isn't a wandering type so that wasn't an issue for us.) The house has the feeling of being almost cut off from the rest of the world - so even though there are neighbours either side we were barely aware they were there. As for creature comforts inside the house: the beds were super comfortable, the linens and towels provided good quality. The kitchen is a terrific cook's space - we didn't eat a single meal out the entire week, either cooking in the kitchen or enjoying several meals from the BBQ which has its own area a few metres from the house. For at-home entertainment, there was a tv and dvd player and we were able to run Apple TV (brought from home) and enjoy some Netflix offerings. Away from the house, all the Peninsula towns and attractions are easily accessible by car though as it was peak season we largely avoided the busy areas. The back beach is a short walk through the national park - maybe 10 minutes tops to the beautiful beach (not good for casual swimming due to the surf and rip but plenty of rockpools to dip into to cool off.) Beautiful scenery. All in all, we couldn't fault out stay. Checking out was as easy as checking in (even though we were very sad to leave) and it seemed that Giovanni took pleasure in the fact that we had obviously enjoyed such a wonderful time in his house - which is a nice feeling to get from your host. We would recommend this listing without hesitation - and hope to return ourselves. Thanks to Giovanni and Shauna and congratulations on having created such a beautiful, peaceful and unique retreat.

What a wonderful little beach house this is. We felt comfortable and on holiday as soon as we arrived. Quirky, inviting, homely, artsy and relaxing. The wall with all the children's names and height and dates is a reminder that there has been many years of fun family get togethers here and you can feel the love that has gone into this place. The folder on the table explaining the history of the house and all the beautiful herbs and vegetables available for use from the garden was fantastic. Fresh rocket picked straight from the garden for lunch was a bonus I was not expecting. We are keen cooks and the kitchen was well appointed with utensils, crockery and cutlery and pantry items. The garden landscaping itself is just a joy to look at and we had many meals on the rustic table outside underneath the shaded pergola with a mother of pearl chandelier - gorgeous!. All with curious little artefacts and artworks jotted around everywhere. A few friendly birds even came down to say hello and see if there was any offerings but never harassed us, just sitting in the trees singing to us. It was very beautiful indeed. The house itself was light and airy and the beds very comfortable ( for us anyway - I don't like hard beds) - and we had great sleeps, listening to the wind carrying the sound of the surf, which is an easy 10 minute walk through the bush on tracks that start a couple of houses down the road. The beach is rugged and interesting with many rock pools and sandy caves - it was a treasure trove of excitement for our 10 year old daughter who wanted to spend hours down there even though it was too rough for her swim there. It is a simply stunning coast line and we had a great coastal track walk from the house to Sorrento for fish and chips that took about an hour and a half at a brisk pace each way, we even passed an echidna on the way! A bay beach that is suitable for swimming is only a short drive away but we never actually made it there. A closed-in fireplace in the lounge room kept the whole place toasty at night without worrying about flying embers and there was plenty of firewood available to keep it going. The bathroom is quite basic and a little small but with the private outdoor shower around the side it really didn't affect us much. For the money, this place is a great find and I can't wait to go back and stay again ..I'll want to stay longer next time though, because we certainly didn't want to leave. A great little rustic beach cottage!
