We loved this property, the house is so full of character & history. The yard has been made into a paradisiac scene by Michelle the gardener. It was so comforting to have her & Joe on the property along with Allen & his daughter. The ylang-ylang tree outside of the front of the house gave off a beautiful aroma. I loved opening the windows in the kitchen to have the fragrance waif in. The cook Sophie & housekeeper Jeziel were so very helpful & we found them to be friends by the time we left. The kitchen was well stocked with any device you might need. There were extra beach towels, games, & toys we were happy to use. Our children loved to explore inside & outside. The house despite being in need of some tlc has a rustic charm. The only thing I wish I had been aware of is the bugs that we found we were bitten by in the night in 3 of the beds we used. It wasn't mosquitos because it happened while we were each tucked away under our nets & covers. I started spraying bug spray on our torso & legs at night and this seemed to help. I have to say though despite this we fell in love with the house & the beautiful people of Dominica. The island itself is right out of a storybook, raw & lush. We loved the white sand beach and the owners of Escape bar were very kind. Chaudiere pool was my favorite adventure of the island. Batibou beach was pristine, although I highly recommend going with a big group or locals. This island & the friends that we acquired there will forever have a piece of our heart.

Our experience in Dominica was like a fantasy. Never have we experienced such beautiful nature and surroundings. Pointe Baptiste is the perfect location to stay while visiting the island. We felt like kids exploring a new world in our very own private "jungle house." Nothing will compare to our access to the black sand beach, white sand beach, beautiful gardens and the surreal red rock formations (if you meet Hamilton let him give you a tour. He had some interesting stories to share. Bring $2 EC per person or tip him more. We gave him a $20 and I think it made his Christmas. Great guy who lives a simple life). All walking distance from your doorstep. Alan and his staff and other residence on the property were welcoming and very helpful. We had a number of delicious meals prepared for us and we also bought our weight in yummy chocolate made by Alan. One thing to note Pointe Baptiste is and hour and 15 away from Rouseau but it's worth the drive. Rent a car if you are ok to drive. You pass by majestic mountains, valleys, rivers and waterfalls. The house itself is old but has a nice charm. My boyfriend wasn't a fan of the fruit bats that flew around the house every once in a while but they never came close. If you plan to go to nature expect to experience nature. :) We hope to come back again and visit this lovely place soon.
