We loved our stay here! It is a bit hard to find but once you get there it has amazing views across the highlands and nice peace and quiet of a farm setting. Its very well appointed with most furnishings you would find in your own home. It is also very centrally located for visiting many top distilleries. Steve was nice enough to stop by for check in and poured us some of his favorite whiskey and help with any questions we had. I would highly recommend this place and hope to stay again some day.

Delighted that you enjoyed the views, we think they are very special. Sorry you had a problem finding the cottage as we sent detailed directions including the lat and longitude for a sat nav. Looking forward to our visit to Hawaii

Overall really great experience for my boyfriend and me! The location cannot be faulted, with stunning views over the Cairngorms and lots of friendly sheep at every turn. The old farmhouse has been converted into 3 cottages and Arbelour is the middle of the 3. We had a group of visitors from Canada staying in the cottages either side of us so our privacy felt a little inhibited at times while they moved around visiting each other, however the walls between the cottages are obviously very thick as we could not hear a thing from either building which was great. Steve met us and was very friendly and helpful. He gave us lots of recommendations for days out, places to eat and Whisky distilleries. The only negative aspects of our stay was a funny smell from the drains after about 2 days which lingered in the kitchen until we left (it affected all the other cottages too so we knew it wasn't just us!) but these things happen and being up in the hills the water supply was from a local stream so it was understandable, and that the furniture in the living room was a bit uncomfortable. On the whole though, we would definitely recommend Arbelour cottage for the peaceful, stunning location and very friendly owners!

Glad you enjoyed the beautiful views from our Aberlour cottage and thank you for your review. The cottage is converted from a Steading building where the animals would have lived. However the 3 cottages were made from this building which was completely rebuilt in 1992. We have checked with the visitors from the other cottages and they did not have any strange smells in their cottages. My husband has done thorough checks to ensure that the water supply which is from a capped spring had not been affected by heavy rains and found all is well with the water tasting and smelling sweet. The cottage furniture has to be compact to fit in a compact lounge/dining room.

Steve was there when we arrived and showed us the whole place and how to work everything and even popped back in a bit later to check we were OK. The house was exactly as described and gave plenty of space for 4. It was very clean and well equipped. We had a great 3 night stay exploring the surrounding area. This was at the end of a 2 1/2 week holiday so we were wanting to chill more than be very active. The location is quite remote so ideal for getting away from it all with fantastic views over the Glenlivet distillery and beyond to the Cairgorms. Ideal location if you want to do the rounds of the Speyside distilleries. It was easy enough to find from the directions Steve sent through beforehand but probably best to check on a map/(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) just so you know where you're going. Overall a great stay and would recomend

I only met with Elizabeth's husband Steve. He welcomed us so kindly. The house was clean and able to accomodate 5 people easily. The view and nature are perfect. We had only two difficulties; first one is the house is located on the blind spot for mobile phones, which means mobile phones are not working in the house. Secondly, the house is hard to find. It is almost a lonely house located up on the hill and almost last 1 mile of the road is not asphalt.

Thank you for staying in Aberlour cottage. We are sorry that you did not feel you had enough information about the cottage. We provide free Wi-Fi and a landline phone in all the cottages as there is limited mobile reception depending on your provider. The cottage is advertised as being on a hillside with mountain views. The Glenlivet area in the Cairngorms National Park is in the middle of the countryside as shown on the map view.

A farmer's daughter brought up in Perthshire, Scotland. Left home at 18 and spent over 20 years in the RAF. Married Steve and travelled with him in the RAF after I retired. We bought Bluefolds Holiday Cottages in October 1999 and have operated them since then. We have over the last 16 years been involved with Travel and Tourism in Moray. Steve is currently a Director of Cairngorms Park Business Partnership and of Dufftown 2000 as well as Chairman of Tomintoul and Glenlivet Highland Holidays. He was a director for 6 years of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival and is still involved with the May and September Whisky Festivals in Dufftown. I am a keen photographer and tour Moray, Speyside and the Cairngorms National Park taking photos of places to visit and things to see and do in the area and share this on . When not involved with the business, I love to travel and use Airbnb in this.
