El alojamiento
The 'Railway Cottage' is a charming and relaxing farm stay cottage with 360 views of the mountains, Mary River, Sugar cane fields and bush. The newly renovated 1 bedroom cottage was once the local railway cottage and maintains much of its original character.

With amazing views off the front veranda and views over the bush and river off the back; you are spoilt for choice on where to enjoy that morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine!

The cottage has a small but lovely kitchen/ dining area which leads to a double bedroom. From the kitchen you have access to a double shower room and a separate toilet is off the back deck via the bedroom. The small kitchen has all you need in the form of a small work top cooker with two hobs on top, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster etc. We have recently added a lovely little electric fire place to keep you warm on winter nights. There is a good quality BBQ on the front deck and seating front and back.

The cottage has its own private garden and fire pit (fire ban depending or if its windy and dry please don’t light) with views over the bush and river. Various walking trails are available around the farm and you have access to the river be it for fishing, kayaking, wildlife spotting or just to sit and enjoy a picnic on the bank. Visit the 'Rocks', a beautiful spot over looking the river and keep an eye for the endangered Mary river turtle and lung fish or if you’re really lucky a Platypus! When not out on the farm enjoy a good book or board game and if you fancy a night off cooking there's always the local historical Theebine Pub for a good feed.

When we are not working on the farm and available we would be more than happy to tell you about the farm, our crops, cattle and answer any questions about the area you may have.

We are a great base for days out as we are centrally located to so much! For the beach head to Rainbow or Noosa. Or enjoy a train ride on the Historic Gympie Rattler and search for gold at the Gold Mine Museum in Gympie. Maryborough is a great day out for cafe's, museums and all things Mary Poppins! Head out west towards Goomeri for a country drive and stop in at the fabulous bakery or at one of the wineries. The hinterlands of Maleny and Monteville are well worth a visit and try the cheese and ice cream at Kenilworth dairies. If you fancy staying put there's great fishing down at the river, picnic sites and bush walks to enjoy.

The house area is fenced but we do ask that 'Farm Rules' are adhered to when out on the farm and around the river/dams for your safety and ours as we are a working farm. In addition being a working farm there may be noise which is rare unless harvesting. When moving the cattle they can be noisy or the odd tractor! We harvest our Sugar Cane some time between late August to the end of November. Harvest normally only takes approximately 12 days and can be a dusty time with cane trucks moving around. However it is also a fascinating time on the farm and exciting to see as it is a culmination of a years hard work! The fields turn from green to a beautiful golden and its a real marker for our our farm year.

The cottage is accessed via a shared drive way with our other guest house 'The Brick house' but you are far enough away to maintain privacy. However please drive slowly and carefully on the shared driveway and all guests are asked to respect each others privacy.

It is advisable to bring drinking water as we are on tank water but we will provide some water in the fridge. We are approached by a dirt road which just adds to that fun get away from it all feeling!
