Cristina and Tony, thanks for writing a review of your stay with us. However, we were surprised to read you comments and the low ratings you gave to most items.
During your stay we'd met and spoke several times to check all was OK. All was said to be fine. Nothing was mentioned nor even mid-week when we gave you a ride to town for your event. Had we known at the time, we could have taken actions to make your stay more comfortable. We are sorry you were dissatisfied with some things but also extremely sorry you felt unable to discuss with us directly at the time.
We do appreciate all feedback and your comments have been noted. Our home has its style and will never be to everyone's taste. However, through our rental activity we share a real home, our family’s home. In the true spirit of Airbnb its a home that has evolved over the years following the flow of changes that have happened to Ravello as it has matured into a destination. What’s more, we don’t wish to offer a 'template' accommodation, for us it will continue to be a snapshot of our family history. Furnishings and items, from the medical history books to the madia (antique bread making station) are from family members. The dining table and sofas were custom made in the house in the '70s, in a style fashionable at the time and now back fashionable again. We have over 5 generation represented in the home plus artwork and ceramics from friends. We'll be updating some items as we do each year but always maintain the connection to our family.
We are sorry you didn't appreciate our location. We have always quoted the walk to the town square area taking 15-20mins by the road. The steps (quicker) is the classic route as used for centuries. We have the advantage of being close enough to Ravello centre (walk or by shuttle bus) yet our area is not overly affected by the daily visitors. What’s more, in Ravello all the larger properties are away from the town center. Some are a bit closer than ours but have no road access or parking, just access via the steps. The terrain quirks and challenges are also its charms and beauties that attract many visitors. Our area is still a ‘locals’ zone, with folk playing card games in the local bar represents quite an authentic part of the Costiera. We hope you appreciated the tranquility of our location whilst admiring the spectacular views.
This is probably a long reply to your review however, as it appears you were quite disappointed, giving us a 3* rating for overall experience, we felt the need to at least put a bit of context. Your 1* rating for value for money rating was admittedly a big surprise. We can understand that your final group reducing to only 2 pers. may have made it seem costly. However, regardless of group size, we only offer the single exclusive use of the whole property and we provide the same service whoever many guests.
On an emotional level, we really prized our 5* rating on Airbnb and we enjoyed providing the best service we could for all of our guests, including yourselves. We are disappointed it has been reduced however, we will work to get it back.
We hope you'll visit again and enjoy more of this beautiful part of Italy. As mentioned in our review of you, it was a pleasure having you stay and we'd happily host you both again. But please if anything is amiss let us know, we’ll do our upmost to resolve.
Also, in the full spirit of Airbnb, we hope you will enjoy the other homes and locations and communicate fully with the other hosts.
