Ubicación

Gran Londres, Inglaterra, Reino Unido

We live in the charming village of Barnes which has many quaint pubs, parks, coffee shops and restaurants, all within walking distance. Our house is also less than a 10 minute walk to Barnes Station, which takes you to London Waterloo in 20 minutes and is also very convenient for Heathrow Airport.

We are a 5 minute walk to White Hart Lane which is one of the cutest shopping streets (we think) in South West London, with independent coffee shops, antiques and a Gelateria. The White Hart Pub is a wonderful place to have a pint and watch the rowers pass by on The Thames River. Orange Pekoe serves amazing afternoon teas. There are several other pubs, cafes and a fine dining option (Rick Steins) right on/off White Hart Lane and almost all of these places have alfresco seating.

Barnes High Street is also within walking distance. We love being able to walk to the Olympic Cinema for movies and enjoy stopping by the farmers market on Saturdays to pick up food for a picnic at the duck pond. We've also spent many hours entertaining our kids at Vine Road Playground (a 10 min walk from our house) and the Wetland Centre. In 'downtown' Barnes you are spoilt for choice in terms of pubs, coffee shops and restaurants. Brick oven pizza, sushi, Thai, Indian, Mediterranean and Italian are all within walking distance. As with White Hart Lane, most of the pubs, coffees shops and restaurants offer al fresco dining.

As mentioned, our home is less than a 10 minute walk to Barnes Station which gets you to London in 20 minutes. We are also very close to Richmond Park (15 minute bike ride) and to Wimbledon Village. It is also a convenient 40 minute taxi ride from Heathrow airport (depending on traffic), much quicker than most parts of London.

I have lived in London for the past 15 years but grew up in the tiny fishing village of Cutler, Maine. I am now a proud American/British dual citizen, as are my three children (my husband feels a little left out). : ) I live in the leafy village of Barnes, which is on the cusp of London and work in advertising. I love traveling and during the last 15 years Italy and France have been favourite destinations. From vibrant cities like Paris and Milan to the Amalfi Coast and the Cote D'Azur, the views, people and language are beautiful and the food is always fantastic. Prior to living and working in London, I lived and worked in San Francisco (during the boom) and NYC (during the bust). I love both cities. I also love my home state of Maine and am deeply passionate about its rugged natural beauty and culture. I come from a four generation lobster fishing family, grew up working as a 'sternman' on my father's boat and continue to stay connected to the Maine lobster industry through my writing and blogging. Feel free to ask me questions about the Maine lobster industry and its communities and to check out my curated wish list of Maine properties which capture the rustic vibe of this amazing state!
