Our Medieval apartment is perfectly located directly in the center of the historical part of Vasto and is the ideal location for all restaurants, bars, cafes, museums and everything the town has to offer. And like ALL properties in this historical part of town, it is located in a Medieval townhouse and is very old, full of character and has vaulted ceilings with fully opening windows to the front. Houses here were designed this way to keep out the sun and keep the space cool in the hot summer months. (This is why the streets are so narrow too - to create shade and keep out the roasting sun) The apartment is approximately 10 degrees cooler than the outside temperature as a result. There is no 'dampness' in the apartment BUT Italy is very hot and humid in the summer months, and hanging wet towels or clothes around the apartment only adds to the humidity, so is not advisable. We do supply a dehumidifier which should be left on most of the time as advised. If you wish to dry clothes or towels, there is a heated towel rail in the bathroom by the bathroom window. There is also a clothes rack supplied which can be placed on the porch area (not in the street!) to dry off clothes and towels. With regards to lighting, as you can see in the photos there are 2 large chandeliers and several lamps around the apartment, but we have now put in higher wattage light bulbs on your recommendation as you found it dark. We provide 4GB of wifi for every booking, but as all 4 of you were using smart phones, you managed to use this up in 2 days, that is why it was going slow after that. We did explain this to you on arrival and were happy to top it up for you on request if you had asked. The wifi reception can sometimes be a little patchy, but this is due to the vaulted 4 foot thick ceilings and walls of the Medieval building, so the wifi works best at the front of the apartment in the lounge area where we had placed it. Wifi is also available for free in the main Piazza, most of the bars and restaurants, and also on the beach! I have 2 contact numbers that I provide for guests in advance on the information PDF and by email. One is my UK cell number and the other is my Italian home number, so you could have tried that one if you found communication was a problem on the cell. Delayed messaging has nothing to do with it being a UK cell, it is an intermittent issue with the Italian Wind mobile cellphone network (over which I have no control!) We also recommend the apartment for couples as only a curtain separates the lounge from the bedroom area, and this is stated in the advert. Families are welcome and of course this represents remarkably good value at only €20 per person.
