Whatever the season, Skytop is the ideal base for your Methow Valley adventures. This rustically modern, wheelchair-friendly cottage feels remote, yet downtown Winthrop is a mere quarter-mile away. The new second-story Treehouse Suite (which rents for an additional $100 a night paid directly to the owner) features a gas fireplace and freestanding tub, allowing a second couple or generation to enjoy their privacy while sharing Skytop's kitchen, dining and entertainment space. (Sorry, no pets.)
The main cottage was completed in 2014, and a second bedroom -- the elegant Treehouse Suite -- added two years later. Skytop features recycled bowling-lane countertops, gas fireplace and patio barbecue, an extensive library and DVD collection, high-speed Wi-Fi, and even a resident celebrity: 'Sue', a replica of the Field Museum's famous T-Rex. The kitchen includes a gas range, microwave and dishwasher.
The home is wheelchair-accessible, with minimal thresholds, wide doorways and a roll-in shower.
The separate Treehouse Suite features a gas fireplace, freestanding tub and breathtaking second-story views. Skytop guests may rent the Treehouse for an addition $100 per night, paid directly to the owner.
Skytop is close to great shops and restaurants, fly fishing, rafting, hiking, climbing, birdwatching, hot-air ballooning and 138 miles of mountain bike and cross-country skiing trails.
