Ubicación

Owermoigne, Dorchester, Reino Unido

Shopping;
Owermoigne is a small rural village yet has its own garage, filling station and shop. Alongside is a very well stocked Farm Shop where you can acquire many of life's essentials as well as wonderful local produce.
Crossways, about 5 mins drive has a CO-OP supermarket. Further afield in our local main towns of Weymouth and Dorchester are all the main shops and supermarkets.

Eating and drinking;
There are many places to eat and drink around Dorset should you decide not to self cater from high quality, nationally renowned restaurants, specialising in locally caught fish and shell fish, local meats and produce. There are also many Italian, Thai, Indian and Chinese cuisine restaurants.
There are many pubs within 15 minutes drive, that serve 'guest ales' and have restaurants and gardens and welcome visitors.
We would be happy to recommend somewhere to book for your first night; in the high season booking is really worth contemplating, especially after a long drive. Owermoigne has its Cricket Club, a relaxed and friendly bar and lounge. (No cricket pitch, no cricket team, no cricket playing members, cricket is not often even mentioned - it does have an alcohol licence though!) 250 yds from Lime Tree Lodge. You are welcome to try out its amenities. Open 6 nights a week with all beers, spirits etc at low prices as the whole enterprise is a non-profit making entity run by local volunteers.

Beaches & Water Sports
Beaches and water sports are abundant within short distances and golf courses at East Dorset, Came Down, Isle of Purbeck, and 2 others are all within a 15 mile radius.

Other local attractions...
.. include The Tank Museum, Lawrence of Arabia's Cottage and Monkey World near Bovington, The Harbour in Weymouth, The Sailing Academy in Portland, Prince Charles's Poundbury and Thomas Hardy's house Maxgate in Dorchester and his cottage at Bockhampton nearby.

Walking & Exploring Dorset
Walkers will enjoy the many local footpaths and bridleways through to, and along, the coast including the Heritage Jurassic coastal path from Studland in the east to Lyme Regis in the west. These trackways will provide views of deer, hare, sheep and cattle which are often in the valleys and on the hillsides. Overhead there are many examples of birds of prey including buzzard, sparrow hawk, and even a peregrine falcon or two if you are lucky!
There are several ancient barrows and long disused farm dwellings. The views from the top of the hills between Lime Tree Lodge and the cliffs are spectacular, reaching inland as far as the hills beyond Blandford to the New Forest, Isle of Wight and Portland Bill.

Market Towns
To the west is the county town of Dorchester, 6 miles, with its large weekly market, museums and Roman remains. To the south west is Weymouth, 8 miles, with its harbour, wide sandy beach and numerous pubs and restaurants, geared for tourism.

Access
To the east, the village of Wool is 7 miles and has the main Waterloo to Weymouth rail line station. The market town of Wareham is 14 miles and the maritime town of Poole with its beaches at Sandbanks is 20 miles.
Moreton, 3 miles to the north has also a main railway line Waterloo to Weymouth station.

With my wife Wendy we built Lime Tree Lodge several years ago. Wendy ran a large part of our home as a very successful luxury 5 star bed and breakfast for several years but now that I have retired we have closed the B&B and have created a stand-alone "wing" as a holiday apartment known as "The Annexe" consisting of a large bedroom with en-suite shower room, en-suite dressing room, kitchen, living room, utility room and double integrated garage. Living within 2 miles of the Jurassic Coast we just love the Dorset area and would be happy to let you experience the beauty and local amenities.
