El alojamiento
At Cari's in the City, we provide an opportunity for our visitors to stay in the top two floors of our renovated 1910 rowhouse.

Details about our Capitol Hill neighborhood:
Capitol Hill's H Street Corridor (aka Greater NoMa -- North of Massachusetts) is an area rediscovered -- for its history, its nuance, its tradition and its "neighborhoodness." The area has bragging rights to unprecedented change and improvement: from new, award winning restaurants (such as Ethiopiac and Masseria) as well as much raved about food establishments (such as the famous, Ben's Chili Bowl), to redevelopments, such as the U-line (home to the first U.S. Beatles concert) and Union Market. And, all of it is centrally located on the Red Line while within walking/biking distance (there are two Capital Bike Share stands within a three block walk of the house) of The Capitol, Eastern Market, Gallery Place (National Gallery)/China Town (including the Verizon Center), Nationals Park and the Smithsonians -- though you won't want to leave the H Street Corridor!

Acceso para huéspedes
We want all guests to feel at home!

Guest access upon first arrival is through a keyless entry through the row house's private basement flat. A key to the front door of the house (the fun orange door) will be left on the shelf in the foyer (second floor) for use during your visit. The main key should be left on the shelf prior to final departure and guests should exit through the keyless entry door in the flat, locking the door behind using the provided code.

Guests will have access to all but one room of the house (on the third floor of the rowhouse). Those guests who need the third room can discuss adding it for an additional fee. House sleeps up to 10 guests without the additional room.

DESCRIPTION OF ROOMS
Basement flat: The basement flat can house up to five people on up to four beds: two twins in the private back bedroom (this can also convert to one king) with private full bath, a twin+ in the kitchen/living area and a queen bed in the front bedroom with private full bath. The back bedroom has a view and access to the back courtyard/garden with fire-pit and basketball hoop. The privacy of the basement flat makes this addition to the house perfect for relatives or different families traveling together who want a little extra privacy or college-aged/teenage children who want independence from parents :)
The second floor of the house includes exposed brick, a front parlor, pantry/bar kitchen with island and dining area with table that seats up to 10 comfortably, a Great Room with wall-hanging, Smart TV and an open, industrial style staircase that leads out to the courtyard. There is also a Juliet porch off the Great Room with a BBQ grill.

On the top floor (third floor) there is a Master Bedroom with master bathroom, shower, two sinks and a sky light. The second and third bedrooms share a bathroom with two sinks and a tub/shower with a queen bed and twin beds, respectively. Should you need the third bedroom on the top floor, we can discuss additional use of this room. The second bedroom has a full-sized bed as well as a Euro-couch that opens to a twin bed. This is ideal for parents with a child who wants to be in the same room.

Guests will have use of wireless internet (code provided), w/d in basement flat and third floor) Apple TV and a video game system in the basement flat. There is no cable TV.

There is absolutely no smoking tolerated.

I also provide a number of perks such as free use for one of a Capital Bike Share bike (usage over the allotted 30-minute per ride will incur additional fees; in addition, those failing to return the fob will be upcharged). Two full kitchens allow for home cooking (there are four supermarkets within a 8 block radius: Whole Foods (8 blocks), giant (6 blocks), Harris Teeter (four blocks), Trader Joe's (two blocks). Breakfast food and coffee (with French Press coffee maker and bean grinder) as well as a selection of teas -- provided. Guests are free to use staples in the cabinets as well.

CHERRY BLOSSOM SEASON 2019 is starting:
Peak bloom in 2019 predicted as April 3 - April 5.
Each year the peak bloom is different, some years in late March and some years in mid-April. Peak bloom depends on the previous season's winter weather in DC. The National Cherry Blossom Festival is a month long, starting March 20, 2019and running through April 13.
To gauge your 2019 trip for Cherry Blossom season in DC, here’s more information. From one of our local papers:
"This year, if all goes as planned, more than 70 percent of the blossoms on the trees around the tidal basin will flower between April 3 and April 6. If it holds steady, these dates fall comfortably within this year’s National Cherry Blossom Festival, which is scheduled for March 20 through April 13. It’s also right around the historical average, according to Cherry Blossom Watch. The average date for peak bloom between 2000-2010 fell right around April 1. Last year, peak bloom happened on April 5.
"NPS’s prediction could, of course, change (it usually does) depending on how cold or warm the weather gets as March goes on. Warmer weather will lead to a faster peak bloom, and colder weather could delay it."

Please note: Accommodations are more expensive during Cherry Blossom season and throughout the city. Rooms get booked up quickly.

It is our mission to have visitors fall in love with DC at any time of year. We will do everything we can to help make your stay comfortable, fun, enriching and to fill you with such a long list of things to do that you have to come back for another (many) visit with a smaller group renting out our 2BD or 1BD basement flat. What don't I love about this neighborhood?! It has and IS everything that is wonderful about a small neighborhood in a big city. It has personality, history, convenience, entertainment, food and fantastic transportation options, including the new H Street Trolley. Two blocks from the Red Line (the most used Metro line in Greater DC) and six blocks from Union Station, the H Street Corridor is a central location with six Capital Bike Share stations in a 10 block radius. Union Market, brags pop-up events (including food, gift and fashion shows), a movie theater showing indy films (and home-movie style seating), restaurants, a wine shop, gourmet cheese shop, local seafood, homemade ice creams and gourmet chocolates, bread and coffee not to mention a farmer's market on Sundays during the warmer weather months.
There is also a farmer's market three blocks west in NoMa on Sundays on the "other side of the tracks (under the Metro rail bridge in what is officially called NoMa), lunch time is ripe with the award winning tastes of food trucks: from lobster roll to BBQ ribs and popcorn, DC's food truck scene is a treat for the eyes and taste buds.

One block from the food truck scene is North Capitol Street with a view of the majestic Capitol (some of the opening shots from the show "House of Cards" were taken from this side of the quadrant). With the Capitol building so close as well as NPR and CNN, the area is a veritable political and media red carpet of famous faces.

I am a journalist and social media strategist. We have three grown children — college graduate (lives in Nashville), college graduate (lives in NYC), college graduate (lives in DC) — and two enormous puppies. I cannot live without coffee, skiing, swimming, writing, reading, dogs and my wonderful children. I am obsessed with DC (and fairly "obnoxious" about my obsession). Having been raised in Manhattan, I am a city-kid.
