Apt is in SOUTHWEST HARLEM, NOT EAST HARLEM. Apt is at southern tip of Harlem: Central Park North.

Fifth Avenue divides western from eastern Manhattan; CPN is west of Fifth Avenue, so neighborhood is not East Harlem.

Apt is across the street from Central Park.

A 1400 sq. ft, nicely furnished, clean, quiet apt that is the perfect break from NYC's hectic pace.

Area is safe, relaxed, good air, quiet, not congested.

Super-close transport and shopping. Near Museum Mile and Upper Carnegie Hill.

El alojamiento
This is a great 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apt with a 180 sq. ft eat-in kitchen and a 200 sq. ft living room.

All the rooms have air conditioners.

Guests will have a private entrance from the 175 sq. ft bedroom to the adjoining bathroom that is shared with my clean roommate; it is similar to an ensuite bathroom but shared with him. My roommate in the smaller bedroom enters the bathroom through the apt's hallway door to the bathroom. Both doors are lockable from inside the bathroom for privacy.

The bedroom to bathroom door is lockable from inside the bedroom; and it is lockable from inside the bathroom with a key.

I have another bathroom, in my bedroom.

The 200 square foot living room is very nicely furnished. The entire apt has original art works
by known artists, and the living room has a beautiful, panoramic, Central Park, northern lake, and city view of Manhattan's Upper West and East Side, with the southeastern exposure of the view extending all the way down Fifth Avenue to the Empire State Building (at 34th Street and Fifth Avenue), almost 4 miles south, which is an exceptional view in New York City. Very few apartments at the top of Central Park have as nice a view.

Acceso para huéspedes
Guests will have access to both the 180' eat-in kitchen and the 200' living room.

Otros aspectos destacables
Please note: The nightly price is somewhat higher than I would like it to be, because New York City and New York State impose rather high hotel occupancy and city and State sales taxes on these rentals.

It should also be noted that on Sunday afternoons during the Summer, there are various types of free musical concerts, some of them with vocalists, in front of the Central Park lake (the "Meer") across the street.

The concerts, and the lawns across the street in general, are a really nice way to picnic and/or see a free performance. The performances generally start between noon and 2 P.M.

The neighborhood is somewhat mixed socio-economically like many Manhattan areas, but it has become relatively upscale because it borders Central Park and is therefore a very desirable place to live.

I moved to the area from Murray Hill in 2011 to get away from the noise, traffic congestion, bad air and crowding there that developed after 9/11.

New condominiums have been built across the street from each corner of this block, at Fifth and Lenox Avenues, and there are many co-ops and condos as one walks north from "Museum Mile" on Fifth Avenue.

Museum Mile technically starts at the corner, at Fifth Avenue, but the first of the open museums is 4 blocks south of the apt. The museums include The Museo del Barrio, The Museum of the City of New York, the Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art ("the Met"), and numerous art galleries just off of Fifth Avenue.

The Museum of Modern Art ("MOMA") is just west of Fifth Avenue on 53rd Street. All of these museums and art galleries are easily accessible within a 10-20 minute bus ride down Fifth Avenue on the #1,2,3, or 4 buses, all of which stop across the street or around the corner on Fifth Avenue.

Columbia University is nearby and the grounds of the campus are open to the public. There is also some lively nightlife there in Morningside Heights, six blocks west.

There are many restaurants nearby and they all deliver.

There are also three very popular nightspots nearby: "Maxwell's Central Park" (a sports bar and restaurant) at 111th Street on Fifth Avenue, the "Harlem Tavern" on 116th Street (one of the owners is a friend of mine), and "The Red Rooster" on Lenox Avenue between 125th and 126th Street, with "Chez Lucienne", a French bistro/bar on Lenox Avenue, next to The Red Rooster.

There are also NYC rent-a-bikes just east of the building, two places to rent bicycles near Lenox Avenue, Madison Avenue and Manhattan Avenue, and a public pool one block away that is open in summer and that doubles as an ice skating and ice hockey rink in the winter.

It's important to note that the trip to Midtown, the center of Manhattan, is very quick - only 10-15 minutes on the #2 and 3 express subways that are one-half block to the west, or 15-20 minutes on the #6 subway that is 3 blocks to the east.

Further downtown and the Financial District are 20-25 minutes away by subway, depending on where you're going.

Also, there are several very good supermarkets and fresh fish markets nearby.

Central Park and Columbia University are the predominant features of the area and it is extremely safe.

The building and area were previously given very high ratings (92) on revaluate.com, compared with an 85 for Murray Hill.

Central Park has numerous amenities, such as: wooded hiking and walking paths; a bicycle path across the street that runs through the Park, with no car traffic (and bikes can be rented a block away); free summer concerts of various types, such as jazz, R&B, Latin, etc., and dance performers, in front of the lake across the street (on Sunday afternoons); and the Lasker pool is one block into the park and open in the summer (it has ice skating and hockey in the winter).

People jog around the lake and hike on the wooded trails that start across the street; and people exercise, play sports, picnic, barbecue and sun themselves on the lawns across the street.

There are many restaurants in the area plus bar/nightclubs on 116th and 125th St. (such as the Harlem Tavern and the Red Rooster). Columbia University is only 11 blocks away (a 15 minute walk) and there are more restaurants, bars, and available public activities/events in that area.

The building is very close to 5 subway lines (two are express trains one-half block west) and across the street from 4 buses. 3 buses stop next door to the building.

PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO COVID-19, AND SARS-CoV-2, THE VIRUS THAT CAUSES COVID-19, I HAVE ESTABLISHED RIGOROUS CLEANING PROCEDURES THAT HAVE BEEN MAINTAINED IN MY APARTMENT SINCE FEBRUARY 2020, AND THESE PROCEDURES WILL BE MAINTAINED BETWEEN AIRBNB STAYS, BEFORE GUESTS ARRIVE, AND DURING STAYS, AFTER GUESTS RETURN TO THE APARTMENT, SPECIFICALLY: 1. CLEANING ALL TOUCHABLE SURFACES WITH WHO AND CDC-APPROVED "FANTASTIK DISINFECTANT", AND/OR UNDILUTED HYDROGEN PEROXIDE, AND PROPERLY DILUTED BLEACH ON ALL HARD TOUCHABLE SURFACES IN THE KITCHEN. 2. SURGICAL GLOVES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ALL GUESTS WHO WANT TO USE THEM, EITHER OUTSIDE THE APARTMENT OR INSIDE, AND THESE GLOVES ARE WASHABLE, AND CAN ALSO BE STERILIZED WITH HYDROGEN PEROXIDE IF GUESTS WANT TO DO THAT. 3. ALL BEDDING WILL BE LAUNDERED IN HOT WATER AND SOAP BETWEEN STAYS AND 4. THE BATHROOM SHOWER/TUB, INCLUDING THE GLASS DOORS, WILL BE CLEANED AND THEN SANITIZED BETWEEN STAYS WITH FANTASTIK DISINFECTANT, THE FLOOR WILL BE CLEANED BETWEEN STAYS, AND THE TOILET WILL BE SANITIZED WITH DILUTED BLEACH. Other than with the rigorous cleaning I have instituted, lol, I'm very easy going and easy to be around. I ALWAYS WEAR A MASK AND SURGICAL GLOVES WHEN I AM GOING TO BE OUTSIDE THE APARTMENT, AND I UNDRESS IN MY BEDROOM, STERILIZE MY MASKS AND GLOVES AFTER THAT, AND THEN CHANGE CLOTHES. I then sterilize any knobs or light switches I touched when I entered. I do NOT expect guests to do the same, but I will clean doorknobs and light switches after guests return, and I will maintain an appropriate distance if and when my Airbnb guests want me to socialize with them. I will not have neighbor or other visitors. I tend to like guests who are responsible, who can be independent, and who will try to keep the kitchen and bathroom basically clean, although I and my roommate will also be cleaning in those areas. Although the guest bathroom is shared with one person between 6 or 7 P.M. and 6:30 A.M., my apartment roommate in the smaller bedroom is very clean. I use the 2nd bathroom, which is in my bedroom (ensuite). I am friendly and don't mind hanging out with guests sometimes, but I keep to myself when I'm home. Occasional smoking will be ok in the guest room, with the door closed and a window open, but outside smoking would be even better. The apartment is only 3 flights up from the marble lobby/1st floor. It is advised to bring luggage that isn't very heavy or to have luggage on rollers. A TV is not provided but light breakfast items can be, if requested (most people have not been using the ones I was providing, so English Muffins and mini bagels for toasting, buttery spread, jelly, cream cheese, a few pieces of fruit or juice can be provided upon request). Laundry facilities are available in the basement. The major benefits of this apartment are the nice decor, art works and furnishings; a large kitchen and living room; cleanliness and neatness of the place; very close proximity to many transportation lines, both subways and buses, and many taxis and car services; quick access to midtown and downtown; immediate access to Central Park (across the street); and very quick access to NYC's main museums (on "Museum Mile"), Columbia University, many different nearby restaurants that also deliver food, nearby nightspots, and numerous very good nearby supermarkets.

Durante tu estancia
I spend almost all my free time in my bedroom; and, though I generally keep to myself when home, I am sometimes able to socialize with guests.

I can give you tips about visiting NYC because I was born here and raised in Greenwich Village and Murray Hill.

I am familiar with almost every area of Manhattan and can suggest restaurants, points of interest, museums to see, how to get Broadway tickets, the most popular Broadway shows, some Off-Broadway shows, and some areas to avoid.

I can also inform you as to how to be safe and secure on public transportation if you're new to New York, and I am familiar with some areas of the outer boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn.
