Pollards Mill is a little oasis in the middle a sugar cane field towards the east side of the island. It was a great retreat to return home to at the end of the day. We stayed in the villa, a bright two-story apartment with a double bed, massive bathroom with two sinks, two large closets, living room/dining area, and a decent kitchen. The apartment is an addition on the original plantation house where Linda lives, and there's also a five-bed rental cottage about 100 feet away as well as an awesome pool with a diving board and patio. Linda has done a great job designing the area to feel like your own private resort. On the rare occasion there's a full house at the cottage or a wedding, you can still hide away on the second floor of the villa and enjoy a big private space. We rented a car for the week (about $300 US) and were very glad we did. One tradeoff for the quiet retreat is that beaches/restaurants/attractions/shopping all require a drive. The cities, palm tree beaches, and good surfing waves are generally along the west and south coast, a 25-45min drive from Pollards Mill. On the plus side, the airport is just 20min away. The east and west cost are rockier, with some stunning beaches tucked in, the nearest beach 10min away. There were often a few people working on the grounds during the day, but everyone was exceptionally welcoming and happy to offer suggestions about places to eat or beaches to explore. Overall, a really wonderful spot—just the quiet getaway my fiancee and I were hoping for.

The reason I bought Pollards Mill is because it is a beautiful, tranquil and idyllic place, which I fell in love with and reminded me of one of my favourite books 'Gone with the Wind'. I knew that it was calling to me to come here and live the dream. It has been a wonderful project and I enjoy so much having all the different visitors and seeing how much they enjoy staying at Pollards Mill, and appreciating its charm like I do! I am energetic, creative and enjoy entertaining so this has given me plenty of scope for all of the above.
I enjoy reading and belong to a book club here, my taste ranges from an easy to read romance to the more serious classics, but I also like a good who dunnit. My taste in movies is probably pretty much the same! I like to travel, but I am always pleased to return to the 'Paradise' that is Pollards Mill.
I would find it hard to survive without a good book to read and some music from the crooning era. My wardrobe is also important to me as I have a great interest in clothes and shoes.
I think my favourite way to travel probably has to be by car as there are no restrictions!
As I have said I like to entertain and cook different kinds of food, which is great when I am cooking for my guests!
I have faced many challenges in my life, but I believe in the silver lining and remaining as positive and philosophical as one can despite what is thrown at one.
I have been guided throughout my life by a favourite motto that my father used to quote when I was growing up 'Life is merely froth and bubble, but two things stand alone, help in another's trouble, courage in your own' I have pretty much tried to live by that.
