Sue and Chris were absolutely amazing hosts. From the beginning we were made to feel very welcome. As someone else has mentioned, it was like visiting friends, which, when we return to enjoy their hospitality again, we will be. We were invited to make use out of all the different areas around the cottage (which is so peaceful) and share wine and food over interesting conversations. Breakfast was excellant (we opted to pay a little more for a full English). Our Springer Spaniel made himself quite at home and loved socialising with the locals!! It's extremely dog friendly here, in fact the most dog friendly place we've ever stayed in. The location of the cottage is superb and is a 2 minute walk away from The Dean Heritage Centre and some some great circular walls around Soudley Ponds. Overall an amazing short break, finishing with Sue and Chris giving us gardening tips (and plants from their greenhouse). Thanks again guys.....see you again soon :-) xx

We were made to feel really welcome by both Sue and Chris - nothing was too much trouble. Oscar, our Cockerpoo, made himself very welcome and was spoilt as much as we were. We elected to have an evening meal as well as the breakfast and the food was delicious. We particularly enjoyed eating with our hosts on the second day. It was just like visiting friends. Our hosts gave us lots of valuable advice about the area. We will definitely return and would recommend to anyone who wants a home from home in the beautiful Forest of Dean.

I arrived a little later than I had hoped, but the directions were concise and accurate so I found the Cottage very easily. Peter and Sue are the perfect hosts and were very welcoming and lovely company. I was staying on business and look forward to staying again - for leisure! thank you for a delightful stay!

A couple of miles off the beaten track, this cottage in Stoudley is set in breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful surroundings, a stream at the bottom of the garden to top it all. Sue and Chris were warm and welcoming, and allowed our dog Lola free range of their garden. Our room was very carefully and tastefully furnished and decorated (as was the whole cottage) with many interesting and unusual features. Chris kindly lit the fire in the sitting room, and Sue set us up to enjoy a take-away on their covered terrace, where we sat with candles flickering and watching the bats feeding on flying insects in the twilight. Our room was luxurious, we had a very comfortable double bed, and slept very well in the silent night. Breakfast was thoughtfully prepared by Chris, with a choice of cereals, followed by fresh fruit cocktail, including apples from their garden, with yoghurt, and lastly warm croissants, brioche and toast, quite a feast. After an interesting chat with Chris we went on our way with lots of local information at hand to fill our day, and enjoy the best of the Forest of Dean. Thank you Sue and Chris, we'd love to visit again.

Sue and Chris gave us a warm welcome, accompanied by dogs. We were offered the full use of the living room, our own bathroom and a lovely good sized bedroom. After we had settled in we shared evening drinks in the sun, talking about all things local and abroad. The accommodation is lovely, and set amid the forest, walking distance to the heritage centre. The double bed is really comfortable and there is lots of room for your bags. Sue has thought of everything you might need, in bedroom and bathroom. It's lovely. Sue and Chris gave us lots of information and maps about local walks and attractions, and we had a lovely day walking and driving the forest, including seeing three peregrine falcons and Symmonds Yat rock

The perfect place to relax in the forest of dean (especially if you enjoy playing with some friendly dogs). The setting is probably better than described, in the valley at the old end of Soudley flanked by wooded hillsides with the river at the bottom of the garden. Sue and Chris are both lovely and we happily spent the first afternoon sat in their beautiful garden getting to know them and playing with their dogs Jazz and Rosie and their neighbours dog Meg. Sue went out of her way to accommodate everything we could possibly need and served up a really filling continental breakfast including fruit from their garden, with what looked a very hearty full English available for an extra fiver. Thanks Sue and Chris for an incredibly relaxing weekend and for sharing your house, gardens and dogs with us.

The property was very easy to find, thanks to Sue's excellent directions. When we arrived it was exactly as described. A warm, cosy house, nestled in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Sue and Chris and their dogs were very welcoming, and we felt relaxed straight away. It felt as if nothing was too much trouble for them, and we thank them both for making our short stay so memorable.

Hi, I'm Sue, I live in the Forest of Dean, just near the border between England and Wales with my husband Chris. We are immensely lucky to have a beautiful cottage in one of the small villages in the forest and we adore spending time outside in the garden, either gardening or simply relaxing on the deck down by the stream.
I'm a dancer by trade and teach various classes locally including Zumba and regularly host dance weekends which have been a lot of fun! When i'm not dancing I enjoy walking and socialising with friends from the village pub.
I've been taking private bookings for bed and breakfast for a number of years now and have loved meeting all sorts of different people! Some are even friends to this day! I like to make people feel welcome and it makes me very happy to be able to share this beautiful location with others. I am always at hand to help with local recommendations if needed!
I hope you choose to come and visit my husband and I, we can assure you of a warm reception, amazing surroundings, and a wonderful stay!
