Olivier and Hiromi were fantastic hosts! They were welcoming into their splendid countryside home, traditional with modern features. Meals were authentic and tasty. Excellent freshly baked breads at breakfast. Hiromi was so helpful in guiding us to local onsen. Overall, a nice relaxing atmosphere made possible by hosts being so friendly.

This is an amazing place to stay to get a feel for life in the breathtaking Japanese countryside. The house is beautiful, bright, comfortable and thoughtfully decorated with treasures from around the world and stunning fresh flower arrangements. Olivier and Hiromi are wonderfully warm and welcoming people who made us feel right at home. It was amazing to be able to share delicious dinners with the whole family and two of their friends. We had so much fun getting to know them! Hiromi took the time to drive us to the public baths in town and Olivier was able to take us to a nearby town to experience some local food and culture. We are so thankful for this unique experience and we can't wait to come back. We highly recommend staying with Olivier and Hiromi!!

We had a wonderful long weekend at Olivier and Hiromi's place. The house is large, comfortable and very beautiful. Our room was just as advertised. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and it was a relaxed environment throughout our stay. My husband and I enjoyed spending spare moments in the library. We had our pick of English, Japanese and French books! Vegetarian breakfast and dinner were provided and they were of excellent quality. There was an emphasis on fresh and organic ingredients everyday. As a vegetarian it was a real treat for me to have home cooked food in Japan - all of which I could eat without worry of fish stock or meat products. My husband is not vegetarian but he enjoyed the meals just as much as me. The area is quiet and rural, but there is an active community of local enterprises and craftspeople. Hiromi was kind enough to give us recommendations and to introduce us to some craftsmen in the area. There is an excellent cafe in a disused school at the other end of the village. You can take the train from right outside the B&B, but we chose a leisurely 45 minute walk. On our last day we took the train to Tottori Sand Dunes. It was just over an hour away, but well worth the visit. We wouldn't hesitate to visit again, hopefully we will have the opportunity!

You will not find better hosts in Japan. The outstanding feature is that they both speak perfect English and can inform you about all those quirky little things which are sometimes difficult to understand about japanese culture.

This is an amazing house in the very uncontaminated Japanese country side. Ideal place to chill out and relax after days in big cities, it is close to several very nice spots and tracking paths. Olivier, Hiromi and their family (including their artist friends) are the perfect hosts, as simple as that. They make you feel like you are part of their community with warmth and very attentive hospitality. In my view, this is what Airbnb should be about. My best airbnb experience by large.

Hi I am Olivier.
I live in Nishiawakura Village surrounded by beautiful mountains bordering on Okayama, Tottori and Hyogo Prefectures. I have been in Japan for 6 years redefining living in a slow lane without boredom together with my wife and 2 young boys.

Nishiawakura is an open and friendly community where you can truly appreciate the best of what each season has to offer. Meeting local craftsmen is one of the highlights for many of our guests. For families, playing in the river nearby, walking in the woods, playing cards and making origami with us. If you are into yoga, you can always join in our Wednesday classes in the woods.
