Since we won't be here to work-out the détails we thought it would be
good to lay out some basics to keep everyone happy.
This is our home. We have chosen you because we think you will take care of it. If something breaks, please let us know. Not a big deal. Things will happen. We'd rather hear about it from you than find out after.
We have a lovely tenant called Tammy who lives in a completely separate part of the structure downstairs. She knows we will be Airbnbing the house this summer but please be conscious that it is a wooden house and loud noise travels especially from the main floor to the basement.
Tammy's room is under the back half of the dining room. Please try to be done with the dinner table at 10pm.
The house has 3 bedrooms upstairs. We do not want anyone sleeping in the room downstairs, below the main floor.
Please wipe up red wine, yellow mustard and other staining substances on the white stone counters as soon as possible. Use a little liquid vim (under the sink) with the blue sponge if dishsoap isn't strong enough.
There are spices and oils and vinegars in the lower cupboard between the fridge and the stove. Feel free to use them. No point buying stuff like that for a short stay.
Appliances: Appliance booklets will be left in a drawer in case something unexpected crops up.
Induction. Very simple: Use only pans in drawers below. Touch On, choose burner, choose temperature. Don't press hard. It won't work.
Cleans easily with just dish soap and water and the blue scouring sponge.
Tap water is fine to drink but fridge has a built-in water filter. First button on the left.
Please make sure toaster oven is off when you leave the house.
Please rinse dishes a bit before putting them in dishwasher.
Vancouver is into recycling. We have a small compost collection bin on the kitchen counter by the sink. There are paper bags for it under the sink. Please put all food waste (as per the pictures on the bin) in there. Please dump the bag in the yard waste/green waste bin outside by the back steps on Sunday night or anytime you want to get rid of it. It is collected every Monday. Tammy will put the large bin out for collection.
Please rinse bottles before putting them in the recycling bin under the sink.
Cans need to be rinsed and have labels taken off. Plastics also need to be rinsed before they are put in the bin. If the bin gets full, please empty it in the blue bins under the back deck. Tammy will deal with getting the recyclables to the curb on garbage pickup day.
Regular garbage goes under the sink too in plastic bags and when full needs to be moved to the black garbage bins that are under the back deck. They are bungie-corded to keep scavenging racoons from knocking them over.
Yes, there are racoons and skunks all over our city, especially at night. Avoid contact.
Please feel free to water the pots on the decks if the plants look wilted!
Irene will water the orchids.
Dishes: If you need more than you find in the kitchen cupboards, we have put the good dishes away in the sideboard in the dining room. Just know that the pattern has been discontinued and is difficult to replace. But they are sturdy.
Please note that dishes need to be done and put away when you leave or at least loaded in the dishwasher and run. Detergent is under the sink.
The cleaning lady will do the big stuff, cleaning floors, dusting, washing bathrooms, changing linen when you leave. If you want to touch up, there are cleaning supplies under the sinks and in the closet by the powder room where the vacuum is.

Sorry for the tedious details. We want this to be a pleasant experience for all of us.
Have a wonderful stay!

Warm and enthusiastic hosts who have travelled and lived in some of the great cities of the world but choose to live in Vancouver because we think it's pretty perfect.
We are bilingual (English and French). We have hosted adult students from around the world including Brazil, Mexico, Japan and Taiwan for about 5 years. Some stayed as long as 6 months. Many still stay in touch. We love to meet people, share our knowledge of Vancouver, BC, and Canada and learn about your country and culture.
Professionals with 2 kids. We love nature and the beauty of the North Shore, hiking and biking.
