Thank you for considering our unique three-story split-level condo near Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden! Our modern Japanese home is fun and funky--with a charming rooftop terrace- set in a quiet neighborhood, yet right in the middle of it all.
We're excited to share the news that our place has been chosen by LUXE City Guides as one of the top 5 Airbnb rentals in Tokyo! And that we're featured in the April 2016 edition of Hanako magazine as one of the ten most-inspiring Airbnb interiors in our great city.
The condo is 70 sq meters with a 25 sq meter roof garden, which, for our non-metric guests, means the entire place including the terrace is just over over 1000 sq feet. It is a very comfortable and spacious place for two people with two inviting lounge areas and a complete office space in addition to a quiet sleeping space. The place has been designed with a couple's lifestyle in mind. It is also an ideal set up for business travelers, especially those here for long stretches, with its central location and home office. Many of our guests work in fashion, music, design, art, film, or the culinary world--guest after guest, you are an interesting, creative bunch. We've enjoyed meeting each and every one!
This condo is an especially good find for fans of design--it was custom-made and shines a nice spotlight on contemporary Japanese architecture, and has been featured in magazines. It's a truly original urban space, an open plan split over three levels of living space, with the garden terrace on the fourth.
Building the place was a labor of love, we are in every detail of the interior as the architect gave us free creative reign, and we ran with it.
An overview of the layout and setup:
The first floor includes the sleeping quarters, a lounge area for reading and relaxing, as well an office space. It is an open plan but a large wardrobe serves as a partition to keep the main sleeping area private. The queen-sized bed (Simmons pocket-coil mattress) in the sleeping area looks out on a garden of green. The office can be completely closed off by a sliding wall or left open to be used as an extension of the lounge and living area.
The second floor is the bathroom. The tub is spacious, European-made, and programmed by Japanese technology to fill automatically at the touch of a button. The toilet comes with all the bells and whistles that you'd expect a Japanese toilet to have. The bathroom also has a shower, sink, and vanity. It is completely stocked with toiletries and towels for your use, including a hair dryer and lots of other extras. We try to make all the amenities available to you as luxurious as we can, including high quality toiletries.
The third floor is the kitchen and living/dining area. You'll have a four-burner stove, full-sized oven, rice maker, food processor, and dishwasher at your disposal—as well as high-quality, stainless steel pots and pans. And you'll have full access to the pantry, which is stocked with staples like organic white rice, spices from all over the world, baking supplies, and more. Tokyo definitely has some of the best restaurants in the world, but we understand that some people simply love to cook, or perhaps have food allergies that make eating out hard while you travel. Whether cooked by you or take-out, we definitely recommend making sure you have at least one meal on the roof terrace during your stay, if not as many as possible. It's particularly a favorite place for that first morning coffee. Speaking of, you'll have a Nespresso machine stocked with coffee and espresso capsules for the length of your stay. As well as hand-drip options and plenty of tea choices too.
The condo additionally comes equipped with wifi, air conditioning, and heated flooring. And you get a mobile wifi unit so you can stay connected during your adventures around the city.

Our goal is to make this your home, and to help you really enjoy your time in Tokyo. You will arrive to a home ready to be yours. The kitchen is fully equipped, the pantry is stocked with snacks and staples, the bookcases are lined with reading options, the music speakers are ready for you to plug in your smartphone, the espresso is poured at the touch of a button. The garden awaits, with a view that stretches as far as Tokyo's newest attraction Skytree.
And for those who expect to be doing work during your stay, the condo has wifi and as much coffee and tea as you'll need--and we also provide mobile wifi so you can connect anywhere on the go. There is an office space on the first floor with a desk, printer, and accessories. The sunny third floor and roof are also nice spaces to take a laptop as well.
While you're out exploring the city, we'll provide you with a mobile wifi device for your smartphone or computer. It will ensure that you can be connected anywhere.
There are two bicycles available for you to use if you'd like to get around like us locals do. We also have a bilingual driver available whom you can hire for the day or use for pick-up or drop-off at the airport. Please inquire if interested. If you'd like regular cleaning while here, we can arrange that as well. Dog/cats are allowed with prior permission.
A note for guests with food allergies or special diets:
Our pantry will be especially nice for those following the Paleo diet, SCD, or GAPS. Because we have different guests staying here, I can't guarantee a gluten-free kitchen, but we make the best effort to be sensitive to guests with special diets and food allergies. Please inquire further if you have any questions about this. I am happy to do some extra food shopping for you ahead of time as well. And I am happy to take requests for pantry items, especially from guests with special diets. We are restocking the pantry all the time, so feel free to ask!
For those looking to stay long term, we are offering a full-service apartment for long term renters, with weekly maid service included. Please inquire to hear more.
Parking may be available as well. Please inquire if you think you'll need it.
Otros aspectos destacables
Please note that this is a non-smoking home, but one that pets have previously lived in, in the case of any allergies.
We simply ask that you be respectful of the house and its belongings, as well as of our neighbors who live in the building.
No smoking inside the condo, including the roof balcony unfortunately as the smoke travels to our neighbours' windows. Please note smoking is also not allowed outside the front door or at the end of the driveway on the street immediately in front of the building. This is to avoid any inconvenience to neighbors who share the building as it is a designated non-smoking building.
No extra guests. No parties. No illegal activity. Absolutely no filming or using for a photo shoot unless previously discussed with us and agreed upon.
Please note that unfortunately since our place is quite gadget-heavy and therefore requires reading and understanding various instructions, we can only accept guests with a firm grasp of English or Japanese.
Mostly and above all, we ask for honesty and sincerity in your communications with us and use and care of a home we planned, built, lived in for years--and love. Thank you!
We are very available as hosts and love to meet guests, but we leave that up to you as we understand that everyone has their own agenda and plans while traveling. We do check in and stay in touch regularly to give you tips and answer any questions. But again, we let our guests dictate the amount of contact we have with them as we understand everyone is different in this regard.
We are a small family living and working in Tokyo.
