Cozy, historic lodge with beautiful views of the vineyard! 4 rooms and bright lounge right at the heart of our family-run wine estate with swimming pool. Rural setting, but close to Lisbon and beaches. Ideal for larger families looking to relax.
We call this "The Caseiro House" because the farm's caretaker ("Caseiro") used to live here in times gone by. Unsurprisingly, it lies at the heart of the estate, annexed to the beautiful Chapel of St. Ana, dating back to 1633. Even though it was renovated recently, the house bears the marks of the generations that lived here before - this gives it a really cozy, quaint vibe...
Typically for our region, the accommodation is on the first floor. There are three separate bedrooms with two beds each, as well as a small spare bedroom. From the kitchen there is a lovely little stone balcony where you can enjoy your meals with magical views over the vineyards. BBQs on request.
The house is comfortably furnished, an delightful mix of rustic and modern. The front door leads directly into a charming kitchen, with microwave, dishwasher, 4-ring hob, oven and coffee-maker, and to make up for the lack of a washing machine there’s a discounted laundry service on request.
Meals tend to take place on the balcony or under the vines just below it. Some guests prefer to dine in the sitting room, which is spacious and bright, equipped with loads of sofa seating, TV/DVD player and a small HiFi. Also a wood-burning stove incase you come during winter.
There are three bedrooms, all with twin beds pushed together to make doubles. The master bedroom is accessed through a ‘spare’ room, with a single bed.
The master bedroom is large and pleasantly decorated, with plenty of storage space. There’s an en-suite bathroom which has a loo, bidet and bath with shower; this en-suite is actually shared (via a second door) with a second bedroom (sounds confusing, but it's cool if you don't mind sharing bathrooms).
The other two bedrooms are bright and cosy. The family bathroom is accessed through the living area: it has a rustic feel, including a cast iron bathtub with hand shower. The house boasts central heating throughout, and the living and sleeping areas have wooden floors.
The other side of the house overlooks the neat rose gardens with their magnificent palm trees and the pretty village Gradil.
Disponible para huéspedes
The large pool is shared with other guests. It is surrounded by lawn and an orange orchard, and features a superb trampoline - great for the kids! And of course you are also welcome to explore the farm's 45 hectares of vineyards and eucalyptus forest.
Atención a los huéspedes
James offers you a tour of the vineyard, with an inevitable tastings of our prize-winning wines - also a great opportunity to inquire about the busy life on the farm.
Because we live and work on the farm with our seven sons, you will probably see us around quite a lot - so for any questions just ask! Otherwise, there is always someone at the office.
Otros aspectos destacables
There is a possibility of catching a traditional Portuguese wedding, as the reception and wine tasting are held in our main courtyard. However, these events shouldn't disturb you at all, we keep the pool area reserved for you.
From August to October we make wine! So tractors and grapes all round... Join us for the treading if you like!
Please no smoking in the house!
We feel like the Quinta is something special, and because it is also our family home, we simply ask you to be careful and respectful with the plants, animals and everything else on the farm.
We especially ask you to drive slowly in the yard, as our youngest son Jimmy often spends his time chasing the pigeons or playing with the dogs in the courtyard.
