This authentic French village house lies within the old city ramparts, situated in a quiet "Impasse". The house is located moments from ancient ruins, as well as a 5 min stroll to the famous Caunes Abbey and local shops, restaurants and bars.
Nestled in a narrow, car-free lane beyond the ruins of a 15th Century Church. The house has a large dual aspect French country style eat-in kitchen, living room with original Caunes Marble fireplace and period floor tiles. The 2 double bedrooms are spacious and light with original wood flooring. There are 2 bathrooms, one is a large en-suite to the master bedroom with a new walk-in shower and dressing area.
At tables and on chairs to the side of the house you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine whilst savouring a setting that has barely changed for hundreds of years. Sitting in this close and quiet space you may exchange “bonjours” with a neighbour or a passing explorer. Many venture this way searching for the 13th century breach in the fortifications attributed to the crusader Simon de Montfort rooting out heretic Cathars (it’s at the end of the alley behind the house). But it is more likely you will be struck by the peace and quiet occasionally disrupted only by birdsong.

Otros aspectos destacables
The Canal du Midi, which is a major part of the waterway connecting the Meditterranean with the Atlantic, snakes through the Minervois. Apart from the obvious boating pleasures, its shaded towpaths provide delightful walking and cycling routes.
It is, however, vineyards that dominate the Minervois landscape, but not unrelenting vast-scale plantings. The patchwork of vineyards is peppered with olive groves, and fruit orchards (cherry orchards are a feature around Caunes), asparagus fields, and open countryside often affording fine views of the Pyrenees far to the south and west.
Lac Jouarres, near the village of Homps (15 mins. away), is used for swimming and water sports, such as wind surfing. The attractively landscaped lakeside also contains a restaurant. Lac de La Cavayère near Carcassonne is another similar location with many associated entertainments. The close-by village of Peyriac has a new swimming pool and aquatic centre, opened in 2014.
Our house is strictly no smoking and no pets as we need to be considerate to other guests and potential allergies.
Due to costs for rentals there is a min of 4 nights stay.
There is a cleaner who will clean the house and change the bedding before and after your stay. This is included in the rental price.
