We arrived in palermo a little early, but we're met by Ignazio's sister right on time who gave us a warm welcome and showed us to the flat. The apartment is on a quiet little street, which after first impressions on Palermo city (very intense!) the area was very charming and ideally located for access to the old town, pedestrian areas, and sights. Plenty of information in the flat for walks, sights, and things to do, and Ignazio was available on the phone when needed. There was a minor issue with the shower, which Ignazio responded to immediately and was not a problem in the end at all. Very good service from the host. The flat was bright, very clean, and ideal for a weekend in the city. We were greeted with some provisions to save going to the shops immediately, which was great. There are some great bars just over on Via Roma, so it's definitely worth a venture into the back streets! One comment, which is picked up in previous reviews, is at the flats are advertised on one advert, so not all the pictures are of the one flat. unfortuneately we didn't get the large terrace, but our flat had two very comfortable balconies which served us just fine. Definitely recommended as a great spot to explore the town, and to experience he 'locals' Palermo.

Ignazio was great, called him as soon as we were out of the airport and he explained to the taxi driver where to drop us. He met us at the apartment and was always on the end of the phone even offering to arrange a taxi back to the airport as my Italian is non-existent and Ignazio's English is perfect! All in, he's just an attentive yet easy going and very personable guy. He recommended some great restaurants serving traditional Sicilian style food which were amazing and even got a map and marked them out for us. The place itself was great. Beautifully slick finish. Lift to all floors nice and cool and a great location in the old town. 10 mins walk either uptown or to the train / bus station. Very nice neighbours on the street too. There's a really nice food market about 5 mins walk north so you can fill your fridge really easily. Can be a little noisey when trying to sleep with the balcony doors open but air-con throughout so no problem. We arrived to water in the fridge and ice trays in the freezer! *Note that the roof terrace is not communal so if you want to book it make sure you ask specifically.

Nice apartment but not quite what I was expecting in that there was only 1 bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. Juliana who met us was very nice and explained that all their flats are this way. The 15 photos on the site are taken from several different flats. Perhaps the italian description explains this but my italian is not good enough to translate. Large terrace outside was very nice. Too hot for me in July as it is south facing but it would be great place to catch lots of sun at other times of the year. Small but perfectly equipped kitchen. Good bathroom. Well located for most sites. The area was just OK, I felt a little uneasy at night returning to the apartment because of groups of men hanging about outside small shops and ground floor apartments. The small street outside was very scruffy and poor. Sicily is a poor place. We were frequently approached by people begging but I think this is normal here now. In fact we were safe the whole 3 nights we stayed. We always found some parking on Via Bologna at the bottom of the street as Juiliana advised and no harm came to the hire car. You do have to be assertive and creative with your parking: italian (URL HIDDEN) as the locals do. The apartment is in building number 20 not number 22. Good wifi. Good aircon: essential in July.

Very nice flat in the very center of Palermo: at two hundred meters from the famous "Quattro canti" square, the crossroad between corso Vittorio Emmanuele and via Marqueda. At the top of the building -there is a lift-, we had a nice bedroom, comfortable living room with a big divan that could be transformed in a bed. The big "plus" of this flat is the splendid and large "terrazza" overlooking the old town, where you can see the dome of the marvelous church of "Casa Professa". The flat is sunny, and clear. The furniture is "local", chosen with good taste, with an industrial flavor. There are plenty of cupboards. All the equipments are very modern and quite recent: excellent wifi and TV, heating and air conditioning. The kitchen and bathroom are independent. There is a market called "Ballaró" nearby where you can find all the food you need at a most reasonable price, and of course a few supermarkets at a reasonable walking distance. We were met by the very charming and welcoming Ignazio's sister, Giuliana, at the corner of Giardinaccio and Marqueda, at one minute from the flat which is in a really small street where the taxis do not venture. Ignazio also paid us a visit another day because of a small technical problem. It was easy to communicate with them by SMS. At "home" as a welcome: a few Sicilian cakes were waiting for us with some refreshing drinks. You can easily walk to every interesting place in Palermo (plenty of them) Do not miss the extraordinary Montreale: 20 mm by bus from piazza Indipendenza (389): the duomo and cloister are amazing. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to discover this incredible city.

Insgesamt absolute Empfehlung!
