Delightful two bedroomed Retreat Cottage in the grounds of Witherdens Hall, nestled in beautiful, tranquil Kentish countryside. Light, airy with fully equipped kitchen. Jacuzzi style bath with Neal's Yard lotions & potions. Spa facilities and pool. Please note that we operate a no smoking policy in our accommodation and grounds.

El lugar

There is minimum 2 night stay at the Retreat Cottage. Should you wish to stay more than 2 nights a discount can be applied. Please contact us directly for details.

In the Retreat there is a magnet therapy bed downstairs, which is a super king size, and a twin/super king upstairs. The lovely bathroom has Neal's Yard lotions and potions, and fluffy robes. The sitting room is light, airy and very comfortable, and we have lots of magazines including Country Living and Harper’s Bazaar, and we have loads of really interesting books and some great classic DVDs too, so you won't get bored!

If you want to order it, we leave breakfast in the kitchen for you to prepare at your leisure. The cost is £7.50 per head per day and consists of organic freshly baked bread, butter, Marmite, jams, honey, yoghurt, juice, fruit, cereals, milk and our own eggs (which are divine). Please specify if you would like breakfast at the time of booking. We leave freshly ground coffee and a myriad of teas for you whether you have breakfast or not. There are several fantastic farm shops with cafes within walking distance – so you can always buy things for your breakfasts and other meals there. If you don’t feel like preparing your own meals, we can recommend some great places to eat in the area. You can also order all the food for your stay to be delivered from MyFood – it is delicious!

Disponible para huéspedes

The spa pool with jetstream is heated in summer (closed in cold weather). But whatever the weather, you may well want to relax in the Chillspace MiniSpa - the far infrared sauna, steam cabinet and massage chair will have you blissed out in no time.

Relax and rejuvenate with a treatment or two from one of our highly recommended therapists. We have a treatment list of wonderful therapies available for our guests. They are all great but Marilyn's Reiki and Organic Rose facial, Stephanie's hot stones massage and Loretta's yoga sessions are really special. For a really life-transforming (and I really mean that!) treatment, you should book Ben Barnett. His work is outstanding and the feedback we get from guests is superlative. He was keeping Holly Valance’s body from seizing up on Strictly Come Dancing and Kylie is a big fan! And you get your own personally recorded meditation CD too. We don’t take any commission from the therapists (that way you know that what we recommend is what we truly believe in) and you book directly with the therapists and pay them direct, which all keeps the cost down for you.

Atención a los huéspedes

The Chester family have their home in the main hall. There is always some one around to help you, whether it be with local walks or where to buy the freshest local produce!

Otros aspectos destacables

Witherdens Hall is an organic spa Retreat; we only use organic products and offer Neal’s Yard remedies in our bathrooms. They are an independent, British owned company who were the first to be certified organic health and beauty and hold a fair trade certificate.

We have our own vegetable garden that we grow a number of crops in. We do not use pesticides or sprays and we encourage our guests to harvest from it, try our home grown beans or use our nearby farm shops for locally sourced, healthy foods which we have seen growing in the fields around us. Everything we use is organic, from our lovely fruit to our cleaning products!

We aim to recycle 80% of our waste, re-using where we can, aiming to make the least environmental impact whilst maintaining a high quality standard throughout.
You may also see our free range chickens wandering the family garden. Their eggs are divine and really help to make our award-winning organic breakfasts very special!

Our electricity is mostly produced by our solar panels, letting us put back into the National grid and keep environmentally friendly. Sustaining our ethos of keeping off grid, our next project is to find our spring and tap into its natural resource.

The Retreat is a real find. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel at home and even our dog was welcomed by Craig and Louise's dog Ziggy! The facilities at The Retreat are first class, with Egyptian cotton sheets and towels and Neals yard toiletries and plenty of magazines to read on the outside sunloungers. While the children swam in the pool I enjoyed my treatments; acupuncture and reiki - a first. I particularly enjoyed the reiki and found Marilyn to be wonderfully warm and kind. We really enjoyed the area, with lots to see and do in nearby Sandwich, Whitstable, Broadstairs and Margate, and ate two delicious meals at The Dog in Wingham as well as hearty breakfasts at Gibsons farm shop. We will definitely be back!

The Retreat was a delightful, characterful cottage property on the Witherdens estate - close to but not too close to the main house. The cottage is decorated in a tastefully subdued, clean-lined style, with quality furnishings and equipment. The peace and quiet of the location is a big plus - we made use of the small but lovely swimming pool when weather allowed: Craig kindly put the heating on early in the season for us, which was nice. The field around the house is useful for early morning exercising of the dog. Nearby, there are footpaths for walking - try the 5mile easy hike between the local villages, which is a delight on a good day. Local pubs in Wingham - The Anchor is especially welcoming and easy-going. Getting into Canterbury for sightseeing was easy, too. All in all, a restful 8 night stay. We wish we could come back.

This was a lovely place to stay for a few days. We are a family of 4 with one year old twins and found it perfect. Two rooms so the babies had their own room which was great. We had to move a few bits to make it a bit safer for them to move around but were told this was fine and we put everything back as it was. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived and were given a nice tour around so we knew where everything was. A nice location with a lovely village close by. Here we enjoyed The Anchor inn for some lunch and drinks and the Politicians daughter for some tea and cake! alao close to Canterbury so hot to spend a day there. We had a lovely walk to the local farm shop, Gibsons where we also had breakfast as they have a great cafe. Thank you for our great family trip to Kent!

The place was beautiful and near a picturesque little village - easy walking distance to the pub, bakery, cash point. Everyone made us feel very welcome and it was a very relaxing stay. We particularly enjoyed the pool at the end of a hot summer's day. From here we were able to explore the Kent coast with ease with a car.

A great stay with everything we needed a well equipped cottage. We had a car so we were close enough to visit Canterbury, we also thoroughly enjoyed the surrounding walks - the village is close by with great pubs and close to the countryside. Great facilities would definitely visit again.
