This wonderful apartment, a few steps up at the second floor on Grandavegur, is situated at the northern part of downtown Reykjavik, and is a well organized and tidy place full of Icelandic light. It very quickly turns into a home you can rely on and comfortably live in. It is close to the old harbor where the whale watching and island tours have their starting point and many nice restaurants are situated. It is also within a 5-minute walking distance from the beautiful sea shore with an amazing sun-down at midnight in the summer. The Icelandic summer light is fantastic with its long bright evenings and a sun that comes up again at three o'clock (on the peaceful apartment balcony, at the other side, you can see a bright full moon in-between). The place is strategically close to the city center, both for walking or taking the short bus ride there, depending on your time table or mood of the day. It is also very close to a pick-up and drop-off spot for transport to and from the Keflavik airport, as well as most other bus tours; like for example the beautiful and highly interesting Golden Circle tours and the hot bath at the Blue Lagoon. Our host David was great and very helpful with everything and also with giving us valuable information on what to do and how to do it. I.e. he gave us a couple of fine fish restaurants that were really great, and also relatively easy to find from where we moved around. You could, like we did, easily eat nothing but Iceland's delicious fish meals for a whole week without getting bored, because those plates are so different and interesting in both their lovely tastes and appearances. We also recommend you try one of the really great Icelandic beers while you are eating! Should you want to stay in for an evening and eat at home, there is a grocery store open until late across the street from the pick-up/drop-off spot, and the kitchen is well organized so, as I said, you will feel at home on Grandavegur in zero time. The place is highly recommendable. A full five stars place to stay in all aspects! PS. Say you want to go to Grantavegur (with a ”t” instead of the ”d”) to the bus and taxi drivers. The pick-up/drop-off close by is called Oddsson.
