Guests enjoy the privacy and charm of their own room in our 1911 North-end Craftsman bungalow. The art and book-filled house has lots of unique character. Downtown is just a mile away. Parking, Wi-Fi, morning coffee, and breakfast are free. There is one bathroom, shared with hosts. The tree-lined, historic street is in a beautiful, walkable neighborhood close to parks and amenities. Our home shows off Boise at its best.

El lugar

Our historic house is on quiet, tree-lined street, five minutes from downtown. The guest's private, clean, character-filled room accommodates up to two people in a full-sized bed. The writing table (made by Robert) is perfect for setting up a computer or getting work done while here. Paintings by host & local artists adorn the walls.

The only limitation of a historic house is that there is only one bathroom in the home, located between the two bedrooms, which is shared with hosts. It boasts a claw foot tub that doubles as a shower.

Enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine in the newly redone backyard on the deck, made to feel like a Tuscan garden, complete with Roman busts.

Fresh flowers from the market are often on the table. There is a fireplace in the living room to gather around for evening conversations. The house is peaceful and feels like home.

Disponible para huéspedes

Guests have access to washer and dryer, respectful use of the kitchen, living room, dining room, and front porch. Bikes and helmets are also available for guests.

A delightfully interior decorated home in a quiet, safe neighborhood of historic homes. An easy stroll to downtown along tree-lined streets past gardens and nice people in a unique community. The room is clean with many amenities, a comfortable bed, desk , chairs and kind, attentive, cordial hosting. The check-in was smooth and communication clear. A restful stay with caring hosting highly recommended.

Architecturally cool little bungalow in an awesome neighborhood of Boise. Really enjoyed Karen and her husband. Lots of really cool artwork in the house. They took a lot of care and time into restoring the house to what it was a hundred years ago.

The reviews I read before arrival were excellent. I was not in any way disappointed. Karen and her husband were friendly and generous. Coffee was waiting for me each day when I got up, and I enjoyed a delicious and nourishing breakfast with Karen's husband each day before heading off to my meeting. I preferred to walk downtown rather than take a taxi or accept Karen's generous offer to drive me on her way in. The walk is pleasant and it only takes 25-30 minutes. The shared bathroom was never an issue. I definitely will plan to stay with Karen the next time I'm in Boise.

I am the Cultural Planner for the Boise City Department of Arts & History. I also am an adjunct professor teaching creativity and design thinking skills at Boise State University. A native of Boise, Idaho, I'm an active visual artist who graduated from University of Oregon in 1990 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. I work in many mediums including stained glass, encaustic painting, ceramics, printmaking and collage. In 2011 I became a founding board member for Surel's Place, an Artist-in-Residency program. In 2008 I completed my Masters in Public Administration and Graduate Certificate for Regional and Community Planning at BSU with a focus on cultural policy and planning. I love to travel and see new cities, especially those with interesting museums, architecture, and landscapes.

My husband Robert Engbers is a former high-school history teacher who loves to read and smoke his pipe. Robert, a native New Yorker, is well-versed in American history and enjoys a good discussion about American politics. His undergraduate degree is from NYU in politics and his masters degree is in history from the City University of New York in Queens. He is the primary on the ground host and is home much of the time. He loves to cook, read, and do home-improvement projects.
