Whoa! Kick off your boots and stay awhile.... The Sheep Camp is located smack dab in the middle of a working ranch. Lean over the pole fence and watch the cows and calves grazing with the spectacular Bitterroot mountain range in the distance. Late at night you might listen to the coyotes yapping far away. In the winter, deer and elk are often seen browsing nearby. The Sheep Camp originally belonged to my dad and it is filled with many of the western antiques and relics that he cherished.

El alojamiento
The Sheep Camp is located on a 100 acre ranch in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley.
As you leave the county road, you may have to drive a little slow to give the cattle a chance to move off the road. The creek bottom is filled with native trees and vegetation and wildlife abounds. Pileated woodpeckers and great horned owls are often spotted. Deer along with their fawns are also frequent visitors. The Sheep Camp is also home to two burros, Lucy and Eyore - they love to be petted and fed carrots so if you would like to get acquainted, please give a holler.

Acceso para huéspedes
Guests are welcome to walk and wander anywhere on the ranch...Climb to the top of the hill and watch the colorful sunsets or explore the creek bottoms - it is all amazingly beautiful. Or just sit on the deck and enjoy the vistas....

The neighborhood is made up of small family farms and everyone waves as they drive by. There is a put-in for the Bitterroot River about 4 miles away where fishing and floating are favorite activities. The Bitterroot River is renown for great fly fishing. Hiking in the Bitterroot Selway wilderness is also an amazing experience. The nearest trailhead is about 6 miles away.

The Sheep Camp was built in 1992 by my dad, Jim Ross. He was an old cowboy and all our neighbors fondly called him, "Cowboy Jim". The Sheep Camp was named after his childhood home in Musselshell, Montana where as a young boy, he would spend his summers living in a sheep wagon watching over huge bands of sheep on the open plains. He even survived being bitten by a rattlesnake! Dad wrote and recited cowboy poetry. For several years he represented Montana at the national cowboy poetry gathering in Elko, Nevada. Many of the furnishings at the Sheep Camp are relics from Montana's past as I tried to preserve Dad's legacy. He always loved and welcomed guests and enjoyed entertaining them with stories from long ago. I know he would also have welcomed you!
