Reglas de la casa

Please notice that we are an ecotourism project and not a hotel or resort in the common sense! - Since 1991 we have lived by the AirBnB philosophy of sharing our home, before it even became an AirBnB philosophy.
That is why we don't have a menu and offer you all the fresh and original island meals instead. You are also always welcome to participate in your individual meal plan by speaking to us or our local staff. We will be glad to show you everything we have and maybe, and only if you want, you even fancy the idea of trying to catch a fish or two in the traditional Filipino way :)

Island life may be very different from where you come from! - That's why, if you need anything or require assistance, especially with something you are unfamiliar with, please always ask our local staff first! It is very important that you do this!

Also know that this type of vacation is not for everyone! You will be on a private tropical island in the Sulu Sea. There is NO AIR-CONDITION & TV. Unfamiliar weather may apply. Please bring enough sunlotion (according to your skintype) and insect repellant. 'Off' is the most popular insect repellant in the Philippines and it comes in various forms and types (also especially for children).

In general, for your own safety, please inquire first on these conditions before taking any actions.

On Brother Island, we provide a complete meal plan of three (3) meals per day, and as well a 24/7 coffee and tea bar. We cook traditional Filipino cuisine, which is healthy, local and rich in nutrition. We support the local fishermen who bring us fresh fish on a daily basis. Seasonal seafood, fruits and vegetables will apoly. We cook exclusively on fire. If you are vegetarian or have certain food allergies, please make sure to let us know before your arrival!

You will find a complete list of alcoholic beverages and softdrinks at fair prices on the island. If you choose to bring your own alcoholic beverages, please understand that we charge a one time corkage fee of P500 per person. That is because we would have to deal with all the bottles and extra waste and being on an island, waste management can be a difficult task, because we have to transport it to the nearest town or dump site. We hope you understand.

There are some fruits, seeds or things, such as from the ocean, that might look appealing to you at first sight. Anyhow, please do not eat or drink anything unfamiliar to you, without checking with us first!

We do have a solid telephone signal! If you want, upon your arrival in the Philippines, you can buy a prepaid SIM card for about P40 and with it a daily, weekly or monthly internet promotion plan. Internet plans are very affordable. On Brother Island, we receive E to H+ signals. As of now, we do not yet offer WiFi. We expect this to change in 2016.

We love children. That's why children under 12 can stay with us free of charge!

We have a complete First Aid Set on site for minor injuries. The next hospital is in El Nido town, about 2 hours away. Dr. Relucio and Dr. Rivera are the doctors in the public hospital and Dr. Reyes is a private general physician.

In general please check with your doctor before going on a trip to the Philippines. Depending on your country of origin, each country has own recommendations in terms of recommended injections such as Hepatitis A, etc.

It is strictly prohibited to litter! Please throw away your trash or cigarette buds into one of the nearby garbage bin/

Making bonfires without the assistance of our local staff is strictly prohibited!

We provide towels, shampoo and soap on Brother Island.

If you are viewing this listing and is on the fence about booking like I was... just book it, I am so glad I did! I enjoy unique AirBNB stays and this was 3x beyond my expectation. The listing and photos do not do this place justice. Things to know: there is no AC, for the most part it was fine with the sea breeze but one night did get warm when there was no wind; a cold shower helped tremendously. Other nights were pleasant. There was no wifi and it was designed this way for the guests to appreciate nature. There was celluar signal at the front of the house to catch up on quick emails and uploading those profile photos worthy shots from all around the island. There was no issue with bugs for those concerned with an open-style house, however, there were tiny hermit crabs running around at the entrance of the house at night which we found cute! This island is for someone who is willing to step out of the luxurious hotel stay and try something more raw. Everywhere you look the island is picture perfect. The 3 dogs and 1 monkey also adds charm to this already fantastic island. The host Alee, his friends and staffs are extremely friendly, accommodating, and takes care of everything you ever need. This has been an amazing stay and I look forward to visiting again in the future! ️️️️️

We had such a great time on Brother Island. Alee is the perfect host, the food was unbelievable and it is just altogether an amazing place. We were on our honeymoon so it was just the two of us, snorkeling around the island, kayaking, reading a book in one of the many hammocks, not a care in the world! Would definitely recommend!

We were 3 guys traveling at our vacation. We were very lucky to find this island with its great facilities. Mr.Alee the host is a very kind person that you gonna like. Easy airport pick up. Beautiful island. Very delicious 3 meals that each one is deferent from other with its content. Great activities we've done, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, family games e.g. Chess. The island has great breathtaking views that you camera will get full of photos. The house is very nice and has a lot of small details of decoration. There are a ton of books that you can borrow and read. I really recommend any group of friends or families to go and spend couples of unforgettable days and night at Brothers Island. I already planned to come again later.

We just spent 4 amazing days with Alfred and the team at Brother Island. We snorkelled, cliff jumped, sang songs around the bonfire and too many other things to mention. Everything added up to an amazing relaxing break to recharge the soul. No request was too hard and we really felt like part of the family. The food is amazing local cuisine and unfortunately we all left a few kg's heavier! Highest recommendation this place was the highlight of our trip and 100% on our list of places to return to. All the best to Alfred and the team can't wait to visit again.

If you want a place to get away from it all, Brother Island is it! Alee and his staff were very nice and accommodating hosts. There were 11 of us total (7 adults, 4 kids) and there was more than enough room. Sleeping arrangements were spacious and comfy! Three delicious meals were served daily-they could not have been any more authentic anywhere else! The beach is huge-white sand and clear, warm water-use the snorkel gear to see beautiful coral and colorful fish. When you need a break from snorkeling and kayaking there are plenty of hammocks to go around. (Our kids read, played a massive game of Monopoly and held hermit crab races-no electronics!) The island pets (Zorro, Rambo, Lucky and Einstein) kept us entertained as well. Alee is a very nice and funny laid back guy. He made sure to ask us what we needed when he had to leave the island for the morning. (More San Mig please!) AND he remembered the hot sauce! He can make accommodations for a masseuse to come over, too. You can request a night time bonfire (and perhaps a sing-a-long) those are great when all the stars are out. Make sure you get a tour of the rest of the island because the other side is just as BEAUTIFUL! And check out any boats that Alee is building and finishing soon. We stayed for 5 nights on Brother Island and it was very hard to say goodbye. It was a very relaxing leg of our trip to the Philippines that is talked about a lot. We would gladly come back to visit one day, hopefully, to be welcomed by the "Rice God"!

Brother island or should I say kuya island exceeded our expectations. They literally made everything we wanted to happen without any hesitation and a smile on there faces. Such a genuine feeling that was so welcoming. The staff was great. No one invaded our privacy. They were extremely helpful and mindful with all our needs. Alee hands down was the best host taking us from island to island. U get to experience the true culture of the Philippines from the endless dishes of Filipino food to adventures with them with how they operate. It's such a rewarding and humbling experience. There was a nice breeze that ran throughout the house so there was no need for ac. They set up mosquito netting for us. Bring bug spray for when the sun rises or sun sets those bugs do tend to come out. Come in with a completely open mind and unwind. If u don't like to venture out and just want to be a bum Beach. They have these super cute cottages u can have set up to get massages and mani/pedis for such a great deal. Alee is great with negotiating prices if u do wish to venture out to other islands and knows all the good spots to see. They packaged beer/rum/soft drinks/snacks/food for our Tours. The drinks were fair local priced on the island. Which was great because resort prices are insane. This island is extremely family friendly . So I will definitely bring my family back next time. I did go with a small group of 5 but the house is huge and could accommodate a large group. Alee and his staff are now my extended family and I look forward to seeing them in the near future. I love air b&b but my next adventure will be hard to top renting a whole island with almost everything included. Thank u alee and staff for making this dream vacation a reality.
