Overbrook Barn dates back to the early nineteenth century. It was a livestock shippon with a hayloft. Now, converted into accommodation, Overbrook Barn is a delightful and cosy place to spend a holiday in our spectacular countryside. You can see more of Overbrook Barn and our farm online by searching for farbrookcottages.
Overbrook has its own long driveway which ends with parking for at least four cars immediately outside your gate. You can find us by searching the internet for 'FarbrookCottages'.
Recently converted, like The Farmhouse the style is clean, modern and cosy rather than rustic. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are on the ground floor in a single open-plan space with three beautiful picture-window views over the farm. There's a log burning stove, Sky TV, BluRay DVD, and a music system. The main bedroom with super-king double bed and ensuite is off this room. The ensuite has lavatory, hand basin, shower, and towel radiator.
Upstairs are the other three bedrooms and the bathroom. The upstairs bedrooms all have twin beds but these can be made into super-king doubles if you prefer. The bathroom has a bath with shower-over, lavatory, basin, and towel radiator. All bedrooms have TV/DVD, natural fibre carpet, duvets with cotton sheets and covers (bed linen and towels are provided).
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials you'll need for adventurous cooking for a full house! It includes Neff oven, microwave, and ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, and washer/dryer, along with the usual range of kitchen equipment: food processor, toaster, kettle, etc..
Oil-fired central heating keeps the barn deliciously warm 24 hours a day, Overbrook has its own phone which you're welcome to use, and there's free wireless broadband internet throughout.
Overbrook has a gated and lit garden which is secure for small children. There's a barbeque area with seating for eight. Well behaved pets are welcome and there's plenty of room for off-the-lead walking on the farm. There's bags of room to smoke on the farm but please don't smoke inside. The farm is your playground: treat it as if you owned the place!

While many people visit us just to enjoy life on the farm there's also an enormous amount to do locally. Countryside enjoyment starts with some of the best walking and cycling in the country on a network of bridleways and footpaths which start on the doorstep. There's a trekking centre in the village so you can enjoy the same on four legs.
Why not get involved in some local country life: watch milking, visit farm shops and the mushroom farm, or try your hand at some alpaca husbandry? Or you could sign up for one of the Peak District's specialist taster courses in dry stone walling, eco-building with timber and straw, or stonemasonry.
Some of England's best loved country houses are on the doorstep. A visit to Chatsworth House and gardens, the water staircase, maze, and a picnic by the river, finishing off in the spectacular adventure playground if you've got children with you, makes for a truly glorious day out.
For more structured entertainment Buxton Opera House has great family productions as well as higher-brow opera and ballet, the local 'classic' cinema screens exclusively new releases, and Alton Towers is a short drive away. The various caves in Buxton and the Hope valley provide a fascinating insight into these natural and man-made caverns and are always popular with the children.

Hi, I'm Gemma. Simon and I have been living at Farbrook Farm since 2000. We adore our farm and its outbuildings so in 2009 we decided to convert our lovliest barn to self-catering accommodation. Overbrook Barn is the result. For most of the year The Farmhouse serves as our family home, but in the summer school holidays we stay with my parents in Italy so we'd love to have you to stay here, as well!
We love hosting our guests and make them feel at their home always. I am looking forward to welcoming you to a very unspoilt part of the Peak District.
Just contact us at any time.
