Rare Olympics opportunity to live in Rio's grandest colonial French villa and it's own tropical forest!!
Due to an unfortunate motorcycle accident, the owner of this royal colonial estate had to leave for treatment. Villa Astrid is one of the three largest estates in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
This palatial mansion was constructed in 1907 by European diplomats in French colonial style architecture. It went through two major reformations, one of them assisted by the renowned French architect Le Corbusier, who was a good friend of the owner's great grandfather.
This residence was the center of major social events during Rio's belle époque in the 50s, 60s, 70s, many of which were attended by international celebrities of the time. Recently the house hosted a sumptuous party for the rock band The Rolling Stones.
Villa Astrid still maintains many of its artworks and objects of the past in its interior, has an underground disco ("boite") decorated in 60s/70s style and is situated in the middle of 8000 square meters of the most amazing and lushious tropical forest. This forest contains century old mango trees plus other 43 other species of plants, visiting wild monkeys, tucans and maritacas.
This estate is definitely a place for the nature lovers and culture connoisseur. The rooms all have panoramic views of either the city or gardens. Two new independent rooms were also recently built outside the main house.
The pool area is magical and very private. The house also has a dry sauna and an open sport's court. We are able to provide breakfast. If needed, a catering service can be suggested.
