The pod is 10x10 feet of Algonquin pine. French doors open onto a small deck. It has wall lights, a table lamp, chair and outlets for charging your phone and laptop. There is a keurig coffee maker with complimentary tea and coffee.

It has a screen door to enjoy the breeze and see the stars in the night sky. A window over the bed gives you nice air circulation.

The screened gazebo is a relaxing place to prepare and eat meals and plan your day. The fire pit and BBQ station are close by.

El alojamiento
Sleeping in the pod is "glamping" in style. With a double bed and comfortable mattress and thick insulated walls you will feel more comfortable than in a tent yet still get that sense of sleeping out in the wilds of Algonquin.

Moose, bear, lynx, pine martin, snow shoe hares, turtles and foxes live right around us and if you are lucky you will spot one coming to the pond or traveling past. Nothing to worry about with these beautiful animals. They avoid us humans and go about their business of eating and raising families. In early summer there are peepers and all summer the bull frogs call to each other across the pond.

Coming to the trees and pond are many birds including kingfisher, ducks, flycatcher, woodpecker, hummingbird, chickadee, nuthatch and blue jay. With the sound of the breeze in the trees, the warmth of the sunshine and the knowledge that all this wildlife is healthy and thriving nearby, you can't help but feel the healing of being relaxed and at peace.

The pod has a double bed, two side tables, a chair and a bench. There are three wall outlets and a power bar so you can charge your phones and plug in your laptop. There is a keurig coffee maker in the pod so you can enjoy your morning coffee before you head out on the trails or launch your canoe in one of the many lakes nearby in Algonquin Park. You are welcome to bring your own keurig coffee pods. We offer complimentary coffee and tea each day.

The BBQ station is beside the POD. It has a propane side heater for boiling water and heating food. I provide a cooler and ice packs that lasts long enough for your first day and then you can buy ice in town.

The fire pit is for your use only. It is beside the pond between the POD and gazebo. I provide you with a wheelbarrow of firewood on your first night. After that you can buy another batch from me for $10 or buy some in town.

WIFI is available but this is the country so it is slow and may not work (I recommend bringing a book or a DVD for your laptop). Cell phone service should be ok but can drop calls in spots. If you need to contact me during you stay here texting works best or check in with me before heading out.

Algonquin Park East Gate is about 15 minutes away. A car is needed to get there. I provide the $18 day pass, at no charge, which allows you entry into all the campground beaches, parking at the trails, Visitor Centre and Logging Museum.

There are mosquitoes in the evening so I provide complementary BUGGED - an all natural essential oil bug repellent I make here. The POD is scent-free so if you bring a chemical bug repellent please spray it on yourself outside only. No burning candles, incense or using hair spray in the POD.

Vaping and smoking cannabis is fine anywhere but in the POD.

Dónde vas a estar

Whitney, Ontario, Canadá

I live on a few acres with trees and gardens and naturalized grounds surrounded by crown land. Without neighbors close by it is a quiet country setting.
The POD is beside a spring fed pond that attracts lots of birds and wildlife you can watch from the screened gazebo and small dock on the pond. The POD is is behind my house but there is lots of privacy between us.
McCoy Lake is one kilometer from here on Highway 127. It is clean and good for swimming after a walk or bike ride. This small lake has good bass fishing with a spot to put in a canoe or kayak.
At the corner of my property is McGuey Road, a dead-end 5 km winding dirt road, that goes past a marsh and wetland lake (I rent mountain bikes for you to explore the area).
The town of Whitney is 8 km away and has two restaurants, a chip stand, two gas stations (one with a mechanic), small grocery store, liquor store, post office, gift shop and an outfitters store for rentals and outdoor supplies and clothing you may need.
Whitney has a sandy swimming beach with bathrooms and change rooms. Adventure Stables has guided horse rides through the hills and forests around Whitney.
The East Gate entrance to the park is a few minutes north of Whitney - about 15 minutes from the POD.

I am a nature lover who likes to share with others the experience of walking through a forest, following a boardwalk beside a marsh, hiking a trail or paddling along a quiet lake in the Algonquin landscape. As a host I like to give people space. I am around to assist with anything you need. The rest of the time you can have the peace and solitude to read or write, and get lost in thoughts and daydreams.

Durante tu estancia

Text me and let me know what your plans are for the day if you know you may need something when you get back to the POD. If I know in advance I can prepare a campfire or have the shower ready or address any issues. If everything is good then no need to check in with me.

I plan my life of errands and maintenance and enjoying outdoors with my dog around this information. Sometimes I need to talk to you in person if our phones are not communicating through text. The ideal for me is very little interaction while you immerse yourself in the solitude and beauty of Algonquin.
