We had a fantastic 10 days in Villa Violetta. It is pretty much as it looks in the pictures - very spacious, very clean and very comfortable. Dennis met us there and showed us round, how to operate everything and so on and was really pleasant and helpful. Likewise, as we were leaving at 4am it was no trouble for him to see us off and return our security deposit.
The terrace area is a big space to spread out and be in the sun all day if you wish - there are also 4 loungers to use and a large roofed area over part of the terrace with comfy chairs and dining table, which is pretty much where we spent every evening after eating or going out. The pool isn't huge but great for cooling off, floating around in or knocking a ball about! Dimitri comes every few days to clean the pool, water the plants and so on and is another great guy.
A few positive things to note that aren't clear in the description of the villa:
- The kitchen has loads of appliances and gadgets, from coffee maker to electric juicer to sandwich toaster, along with all the usual equipment
- There is a separate filter tap in the kitchen, which meant that we didn't have keep buying bottled water. Just buy a few initially and top them up
- The villa has Wi-Fi, which is mentioned, but it's worth noting that it provides a very fast and stable internet connection
The area Callao Salvaje is a smallish village and has several developments underway. It's very clean and pleasant to walk around but other than the shops, bars and restaurants there isn't much more to do. Perfect for us, just worth noting though. Lots of work going on down towards the beach but doesn't detract too much. The restaurants are all pretty good, with a special mention to Nebula. Great, friendly staff, tasty food at good prices and amazing cocktails! Several small supermarkets are also available but do have inflated tourist prices. If cost is key, bigger supermarkets would be a short drive or bus ride. Everything in the village is within easy walking distance of the villa, the furthest thing is the beach, which is less than 1k away. The nearest supermarket is about 400 yards. As well as the 'proper' restaurants there are also several bars that do cheap breakfasts, burgers, hot dogs etc.
For reference a taxi to Playa de las Americas is about 18 euros each way and we pre-booked a taxi to and from the south airport for 80 euros. You could probably get a bit cheaper shopping around. The bus stop is near the supermarket 400 yards away and apparently has a free service to Siam Mall every day for shopping, but we didn't use it.
Overall a fantastic villa and great holiday! Thanks Yuryi, Dennis and Dimitri!
