we were 4 women comming to celebrate a birthday in Crete. the minute we entered the villa we knew that our vaction will be perfect. the house looked even better than its pictures. everything was clean and very comfortable. the village was very small with a great local restaurant where we ate in the evenings. Gregory was very helpful and gave us great tips as to where to travel during our stay. we will definetly come again with our families.
We booked last minute and Gregory could not be more helpful! The house was exactly as described and even better than pictures! The house is spotless and has everything you could need. It was perfect for our young family, with swings and slides and even a cot and high chair. Also, Gregories tips for places to visit were perfect advice. The lake and lagoon were spectacular!
We absolutely loved our stay at Gregory's beautiful villa in Maza. Everything was perfect and Gregory was an amazing host - ensuring we had everything we needed and giving us some great recommendations of where to go. He even went out of his way to get us some groceries as we were arriving on a late flight. The villa is really beautiful inside and has some lovely finishing touches having recently been renovated. We loved sitting by the beautiful pool which was so refreshing, enjoying the views across Crete. I cannot forget to mention the local Taverna in Maza - we went there twice and had some of the best food of our trip! Costas, the owner, was such a character and we were made to feel very welcome in their small village. If you visit this villa you have to go here! I'd highly recommend both the place and Gregory as a host - we will be coming back next year.
We have absolutely adored our time at Villa Petra. Gregory is a perfect host and he made sure that all facilities in and around the villa were adjusted to our stay with six people (enough sun beds, chairs etc). The villa is clean, very nicely decorated and everything you need is available. Even airconditioning in the bed rooms and perfect wifi all around. The area is beautiful, secluded and perfect for people who are looking for peace and quiet. The little town nearby (5 minutes) has a cute little restaurant at the town square and the owner is willing to make a special menu for you if you give him a heads up of a couple of hours. We have made some great day trips based on Gregory's tips. We will definately be back in the Villa and we can absolutely recommend a stay here to anyone (also families with kids).
Gregory was a fantastic host and the Villa Petra was fabulous! We arrived in the evening and Gregory walked us through everything we needed the first night over the phone. No problems at all. We arranged a time for him to visit the following morning and he arrived with cheese pastries/pies, still warm, made by his mother. They were delicious! He spent with me discussing some highlights of the island--reconfirming some of our existing plans, and exposing us to some other fantastic opportunities. Not the least of which is dinner at the tarverna in Maza--an authentic family Greek taverna passed down for generations. Its walking distance, or a short drive if you prefer, but either way, don't miss it! The villa is identical to the pictures. a great master bedroom w/an ensuite, a second spacious twin bedroom with an additional loft bed, and a thrid bedroom, which, to be fair is a bit small, but my son liked it fine. The living room is comfortable and the kitchen quite functional (we made numerous meals), but the highlight is the outside. There are three outdoor tables, two large--one fully under cover and the other mostly sunny--and one smaller one by the pool. The grounds are gorgeous: hammock, outdoor grill/oven, palm umbrellas, candle lamps, and a crystal clear pool. The first day we were there there was a rare storm which brought some red dust from Africa (coated our car) but Gregory takes the pool quality seriously and by the time we got back from our day at the beach, he had cleaned it thoroughly. Nothing but great things to say. He was available and responsive whenever we needed anything or had any questions. and the place is really special, in a special villa a Maza. If you want to experience the fresh air and Cretan countryside, and want to split your time between the west end of Crete (Elafonsi, Balos etc.) and Rethymnon/Iraklion (to visit the palace at Knosos), this is a great location.
We had a great stay at Villa Petra. De villa is nice and has three bedrooms. Nice, because we have three kids. The bathrooms were fine and great that towels were available. The clean and nice pool is great fun for the kids and a nice area to cool off and relax. The villa is situated on a hillside just outside Maza (a small village). It has several areas to have a drink :-) We went to Vryses for groceries. Vryses has a nice river with quite some tavernas. In Maza we visited a lovely taverna, owned by a friendly guy named Costas. He does not have a menu, he just makes a lot of great dishes. Gregory was a great help and visited a few times to check if everything was ok. House was cleaned halfway the week. We had a great week here! A tip: make sure you have a good navigation as the villa is not easy to find. We arrived at night in pitchdark. But, in daylight probably easier to find!
