I've stayed at 7 Airbnb's and this was my first bad experience. I'll start with the only positive thing about our stay, our contact (who works for the property management company) was easy to communicate with, met us early, and was very helpful and kind. That's about it. After our contact left, my wife went to shower and noticed there was no soap, no shampoo and only half a roll of toilet paper. I was a bit surprised since it's professionally managed, but figured it was just an oversight. I called our contact to let her know, and she told me that it's our responsibility to provide our own. I was shocked. Toilet paper is not something we travel with and Venice is not exactly the easiest place to find a quick store to buy these supplies. On top of that, the floors felt grimy, the shower was dirty and the worse part was the bed. It was very comfortable, sagged, and had disgusting blankets that felt cheap and dirty. It was so bad and uncomfortable to sleep we actually ended up leaving a day early and went to a hotel for our last night. If all this wasn't bad enough, upon leaving and reading their instructions, we were required to dump our own trash and remove the sheets and fold them on the bed even though they charged me a $59 cleaning fee! I understand that we were not staying in a 5 star hotel and we're pretty tolerant travelers. Unfortunately this unit tarnished our stay in one of the beautiful cities in the world.

We really enjoyed our stay on this quiet canal. The view from the front window is calm and peaceful. There is plenty of space for two people. We were comfortable and loved the area. We arrived on a Sunday with clear instructions about how to obtain the key from the left luggage office. Sophie greeted us on the following morning and answered all of our questions. Overall, we would stay here again.

This is NOT an AirBnB. This is a property run by a rental agency in France. There was nothing personal or local about this experience. First off, Locappart is not a person. It is a property management company in France. Fret not, if you have any questions about the property you are staying at you can refer to the multi-page book left in the property. Only trouble is it is ALL IN FRENCH. We don't speak French so it was pretty useless. Did we mention Locappart is a company and NOT a person? Communication was the worst we have ever experienced at an AirBnB. When you message the "host" it goes to the property manager in France. That person then contacts the local property manager in Venice. Then you, the guest, is asked to call them to coordinate checkin and fee/tax exchange. Traveling internationally and having to make calls from our personal cell phones is quite expensive and NOT the way AirBnB is setup. The message system on AirBnB works great, it's why we use it. There is a record of every interaction and it's easy to access without racking up roaming international cell phone bills. Having to go through multiple "hosts" was extremely frustrating. Beyond that, the last 2 days of our trip fell over a weekend. The "hosts" never responded to any messages, texts, or international cell phone calls. We had no idea how check out procedure was supposed to go, where to leave the key, if there was a possibility of a late check out, much less ANY interaction on a local level of where to eat, drink, shop etc. Things that are invaluable in a true AirBnB experience. Checking in was not easy. There is no system in place for guests arriving late. There was also the added hassle of constantly having to schedule a meeting with the local property manager to give them the 20 euro residence fee/tax in person. The suggested time was 9am. We were on our honeymoon so our days and nights were packed full of activities we could not reschedule. The location is WONDERFUL. It is convenient to the vaporetto stops, easy to walk to food and drink, shopping and nightlife. IF you are cool being left on your own with little to zero assistance from the "hosts" you should do fine. Also, be prepared to possibly have to go to the bus or train station and stand in the left baggage line to pick up the keys for the place if you arrive after 7pm or before 9am. All in all, we loved Venice. Staying where we stayed was a hassle and we definitely do NOT recommend staying here.

Respuesta de Locappart:
Dear guest, We are glad you enjoyed the location of the apartment. Our “apartment book” that you found in the apartment are all currently being translated. That’s why you had it in French, we are sorry for that. I hope our guests will be able to find them in English soon. But for the rest, please let us clear our situation. First of all, I’m surprised you didn’t know we are a rental agency located in France. If you click on our profile, we explain on the 1st line that we are an agency. We never hide it. Our check-in time is from 14 to 19. We mention this point clearly the page of the apartment, but apparently there was a bug and you were able to see only from 14. Consequently we made an exception for your arrival (as you didn’t want to pick up the keys at the baggage room at the station), and we asked our local agent to welcome you at 19.30. But due to uncertain arrival time, we found another solution for you to get the keys, so you arrived in the apartment by yourself. We always meet our guests, either the day of their arrival, or if it’s not possible, the day after. So we asked you to meet in the apartment at 9am. You wanted later, and told us you would contact the local agent yourself to set up an appointment. So before your arrival, we did communicate a lot and we tried to arrange you as much as we could. Then, we didn’t heard from you for the appointment, neither directly, nor via Airbnb. Normally, our local agent welcomes you on site, shows the apartment, explains you things arounds (supermarkets, pharmacy, restaurants…), but for the first time of her time with Loc’appart, our local agent wasn’t able to meet you. I’m really sorry you were not able to meet her, things would have been much easier and clearer for you. All the best, Melodie for Loc’appart

Very nice location - steps away from the accademia and most major sites but still in a quiet, romantic and untouristy area. The apartment is basic but clean and pleasant. You have most of what you need to be comfortable. Only minor complaint is that the shower didn't drain very well but we would still stay here again without hesitation. The hosts were very friendly, efficient and easy to deal with. Merci Locappart!

Our greeter was lovely and the home was in a nice, quieter section of venice away from all the crowds but still very close to main attractions.
