Sara and her family made us feel very welcome, and were very sweet about our late arrival. Sara was unable to meet us when we arrived, but her parents waited for us and helped us with our car and our bags when we did finally arrive. They showed us around the cute apartment, and left us with some fresh herbs and delicious tomatoes from the garden outside.
The apartment seems very newly renovated, and was wonderfully clean, with everything you could need for a short stay. There were a few basic kitchen ingredients, like some coffee, sugar, and salt, but not much else, so we did have to do some careful planning and shopping for some meals, but that made our stay more personal, as we had to go into town to shop and interact with locals at markets that we would not normally have had a reason to enter.
The views from the terrace were amazing, as the house is perched on a mountain, and we took advantage of the fresh, cool air, and the stunning view as often as we could. Since we had a car, we were able to make it home by sunset most nights, which I recommend, as the road to the apartment is narrow and twisty, but after a few trips to Vernazza and back, we learned the road and were able to travel Senza Paura! The location is perfect if you want the best of mountains and sea. We loved our stay in teeny, tiny Muro Inferiore. We even got to know a neighbor's sweet dog!
When we left, Sara and her family helped us with directions on getting to our next destination, with a really great suggestion for a lovely stop along the way - something we would not have know about and would probably have passed right by - that turned out to be one of our favorite parts of the trip!
They were very charming and lovely hosts.
