Dónde vas a estar

County Kerry, Irlanda

Dingle is located in a tranquil rural setting that is ideal for walking, cycling and horse riding. For those of you who enjoy an active holiday there are a wide variety of walks for you to try, and for the very serious hiker there’s the option to climb Mount Brandon (3,000 feet). Of course it is also ideally suited to those seeking a more relaxing retreat for their holiday in Dingle

The Dingle Peninsula offers several safe, sandy beaches, ranging from Muiríoch, a long, sandy beach wonderful for walking, safe for swimming and ideal for building sand castles. to Ballydavid pier where there are two smaller beaches that are also very popular, from Ventry’s blue flag beach to Beal Bán which is renowned for horse racing.

In the charming fishing village of Ballydavid, it is possible to arrange angling trips. There are plenty of opportunities for angling and rod and line fishing.

For those of you who wish to golf on your holidays in Dingle Peninsula there is an 18-hole golf links course at Ceann Sibéal in Ballyferriter. Windsurfing and scuba diving are available at the nearby Wine Strand.

You could also take a trip to the Blasket Islands, an amazing experience and a beautiful landscape that was the source of inspiration for many great writers and artists.

The area is rich in archaeological sites such as Gallarus Oratory, one of the best preserved examples of dry-stone built early Christian churches in Ireland, dating back to the 9th century. Cill Mhaolchéadair is another example of early Christian churches in the area. There are also a wealth of other stone age, bronze age, iron age and early Christian archaeological sites.

Dingle town itself offers many shops, cafés, restaurants, as well as art galleries, a marina and sailing club. Spend a lazy afternoon exploring the town, browsing in the shops, and enjoying lunch on the marina.

On your holidays in Dingle you’ll also probably want to take a boat trip to meet Fungi the bottlenose dolphin – Dingle’s most famous resident – who has chosen to remain in the bay since 1983. Local resident Fungi takes delight in human company and has touched the hearts of many visitors over the years.

At night time visit any one of Dingle’s wonderful restaurants and abundance of lovely cosy pubs where you can be sure to encounter a session of traditional Irish music.

Visit Scanlon’s Pet Farm, located just five miles west of Dingle towards the end of the beautiful Slea Head Drive. The farm is situated on the lap of Mount Brandon and enjoys tremendous views of the surrounding countryside. Visitors can observe, walk and watch – Peacocks, Geese, Deer, Hens, Rabbits, Aviary Birds… and much more! A visit to this magical place will be enjoyed and remembered by young and old.

These are just a few suggestions for your holidays in Dingle Peninsula and this is only a taster of all that awaits you in the Dingle area.
