Reglas de la casa

Shoes off when you come in please, and absolutely no smoking. Food in the kitchen/dining area only. (no food upstairs)
Please park in parking area (not on the lawn and not in neighbors driveway) thanks!
Windrush Cottage House Hints:
1)The back door that you come in through has a lock that is set to automatically lock when you leave. In order that you do not get locked out either keep the key under the rock at all times, or simply pull the tongue back and press the button down to keep the tongue held back.
2)The key in the front door lock doesn't come out. Storm on front door must be pulled tight to latch, otherwise it will swing in the wind and possibly get ripped off its hinges
3)Light in bathroom on LEFT when entering, backwards from most houses. If you turn off the lights at the fixtures then you have to go into a dark bathroom to turn them on. I leave them on at the fixture and use the light switch.
4)Please keep shower curtain closed tight. If water gets all over the wood floor please use a utility towel (supplied in bottom of bathroom closet) to mop it up, otherwise the wood floor will buckle – a disaster! – Thanks!
5)Hot water is on demand, there must be enough flow to get it to turn on. Best bet taking a shower, turn on hot water in bathroom sink as well as shower, then add cold to shower to get the temp you want before getting in. There must be enough flow for the hot water to turn on.
6)Shower handles are opposite of each other. To turn on the hot go counterclockwise, to turn on the cold go clockwise. ie left/hot/counter clockwise/on Right/cold/clockwise on.
7)The setting on the hot water heater is set properly. Do not change the setting or it will be too cold or too hot.
8)Water is VERY soft, even the smallest amount of soap will have you rinsing forever so be conservative until you get a feel for it.
9)Please be careful flushing large amounts of toilet paper. Do not flush sanitary items. We are on a septic system and it is fussy. We have provided a trash can with a liner directly next to the toilet to help you avoid plumbing troubles.
10)Please close all windows if it rains, you'll see the damage under the east window in the master bedroom from a storm where the window was left open
11)No smoking, and please don't leave butts in the yard, parking area or road
12)No candles (I'm terrified of fire and soot is also a problem)
13)Please use the hose to bath dogs outside, not the bathroom tub
14)Neighborhood Dogs. There are lots of dogs in Frenchtown. All of them are friendly after they get to know you. None has ever bitten anyone, but the fat black lab “Dixie" and the one that looks like a raccoon/wolf mix “Bam" will bark at you at first. The skinny black one is “Sara Jane" and she loves to have you throw a stick. If you throw her a stick she will never go home. Last year she literally went lame chasing sticks. So please don't throw sticks for her.
15)The dock out back is DANGEROUS!! It will collapse if you make the bad mistake of walking out on it. The orange cord keeping you from walking on it is there for that reason.
16)Dishwasher: Pull hard to open. Press left hand button ‘Cycles' – smart wash will light. Smart wash does the best job of cleaning the dishes as its sensors tell it when they are clean. Normally 2-4 hours depending. Do Not use much detergent. Our water is very soft and too much soap will cause a sudsing problem and water will overflow everywhere and sadly you will be responsible for damages. Use about ¼ to ½ of what you would normally use. Do not use dish soap, use dishwasher powder in a box under the sink that is supplied.
17)Dish soap is in a dispenser on the counter next to the sink
18)Desk in the upstairs hall hinges are broken, open at your own risk (or you'll be spending a ton of time getting it back together!)
19)There is a list of nearby conveniences and attractions in the three ring notebook in the kitchen including: - Nearest grocery store - Restaurants we recommend - recreational areas such as beaches, hiking trails, etc. - Local hospital - Nearby galleries, museums, fishing charters etc
20)Trash cans on the north side of the house need to have the lids secured to the cans, and the cans secured to the house with the bungie cords supplied. Otherwise the dogs will make a mess, guaranteed.
21)The upright freezer the left of the fridge should have the door left ajar just as you find it.
22)There is a fire extinguisher on the back deck near the grill and also one in the closet by the back door.

23)Please drive slowly through town. It is posted 35 but all the neighbors appreciate 20 – their dogs run loose and everyone worries
24)Sometimes the circuit breaker for the front hall flips for no reason at all, no lights on, etc – breaker was replaced but still it happens about every other month. Anyhow the circuit breaker box is behind the map on the wall in the living room, just reset it and voila! Let there be light
25)If something doesn't work, please call Matt at (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) so we can make it right, we want you to have a wonderful time!
26) Dogs are fine, but they must be on a leash when outside. The house is in a neighborhood, and the dogs must be on a leash.

Windrush Cottage is a remarkable place. The views from every window are spectacular! Each day subtle changes in the light change the colors of the surrounding marsh-visual odyssey. Being able to watch the osprey and other water fowl native to the sound catch their dinner was a re…

This is our second Christmas spent on the salt marshes in this very special and magical location. This year we stayed much more local. Even though the temperatures were 18 - 25 degrees, super cold, we were cozy and warm in the house, we wrapped up warm and went out on many walks…

There were so many wonderful little features of this adorable little cozy cottage. Our top favorites were the skylight over the bed, the screened in front porch, the eclectic original art and the prefect nightly sunsets. This cottage is the perfect place for a relaxing stay. If …

What a wonderful place for a quiet escape. The house is beautiful and cozy and equipped with everything you need for a few days away. We loved the bright kitchen, kayaks, local crab shack, and especially the bedroom skylight that lets you watch the stars from a very comfy bed. …

Perfect place to stay to "get away" from the city. Beautiful house and gorgeous scenery. The local restaurant - you can literally kayak it it - had great crabs. Great waking up to full sunshine in kitchen with amazing views. Updated kitchen; perfect for when our family stayed in …

We had a lovely time at Iris' house. The views of the water are stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed taking the kayaks out in the bay, and riding the bikes over to Rumbley. It's a super quiet, remote place, which for us was perfect. The house is very comfortable in a rustic way -- and…

My husband and I loved our stay! Iris's place was the perfect romantic getaway. Be prepared for being in the middle of nowhere. Grocery stores and restaurants are a drive. We loved that about this place. We have never been in a quieter, more secluded place. Bike riding was…
