Need a place to crash after long days and nights of having fun? Come to our center located in the East Side, hottest area of town!
A welcoming space ((URL HIDDEN) to walk, ride the bus or a bike pretty much everywhere!

El lugar

Esquina Tango is in the heart of East Austin, just one mile from downtown! It's charming space, originally a church transformed to a Latin Cultural space since 2006.
The private room to be rented for one or two persons is in the back of the building so guest does not need to interact with members of non-profit (is just an option!). Dance classes happen mostly at night during the week and during the day on the weekend. There are evening cultural events. Check our website for full schedule (URL HIDDEN)
Bathroom is shared with Cultural Center.

I am going to start with the positive. The Center, staff, Tango, music, employees and volunteers were wonderful. I cannot remember her name but there was a volunteer who was so friendly and chatted me up so I felt VERY welcome as I was a stranger in a strange town. The Tango and singer phenomenal. Learning how to Tango is on my bucket list. The common areas that I shared with the Center were very clean and I felt comfortable enough to take a bath the next am. Now the room is basic everything about it is no frills, it was crowded with boxes and stuff and I rearranged to be comfortable. There was a scary to me crack in the ceiling from a leak that was molded (URL HIDDEN) did not have the smell or vibe that mold normally has and I can say this because I am a Medical Scientist and can identify mold. I guess the high vibration of the music overrides the low vibration usually associated with mold. If there is an event plan on no sleep till was past 2 am and then staff was onsite early am meaning 9amish to do yard work. The stay did however give me ideas and INSPIRATION for my own work and the Owners were out of town so I was lucky they even let me stay.

Location is pretty decent--local bars nearby to walk to (about 4 blocks away) and there's a rental bike station right around the corner. The place was nice and clean. We were provided towels and lots of hangers (I appreciate that!) to hang our clothes. The space is small--you share the back office and kitchen with staff of the Esquina Tango. You also share the bathroom with dance attendees. It's not the most ideal situation, but not awful. Overall, Monica and Gustavo were very hospitable.

Great location, responsive hosts, flexible check-in and out, minimal/modest room, great for sleeping after a long day or night out. It's a community center so you're supporting a great cause!

This is a great place to stay if you're in a pinch. Two blocks from the place there is a bike share. There are a few restaurants a half a mile from the house, try Juan in a million for breakfast tacos.

The place is in a very interesting part of the city, a lot of bars and cool stuff around, and walking distance from dowtown.

Urban adventurers who are OK with primitive accommodations may be ideal for this spot. It reminds me of a hostel with warm hospitality from Monica. While not in perfect shape, this bed in a storage-shed is basic, clean and inexpensive. Location is eclectic and interesting to explore.
