Ubicación fantástica

This is our beloved cottage in one of the most beautiful, magical places anywhere. Just a minute off the famous Cabot Trail- sea, sky, and mountains are your backdrop. There are miles of quiet sandy beaches, secret swimming holes, spectacular vistas and numerous kinds of hikes. You may not want to leave the immediate area, but it's also a great jumping off point to explore all the Cabot Trail and Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

LGBTQ2 and those from all cultural communities most welcome.

El alojamiento
The house is an older farmhouse style, set in a large private yard that opens up to a view of South Harbour and South Mountain.

It is a two storey, with three bedrooms upstairs. All have nice quality bedding. There are
fans in each room for warm nights and also an extra single bed at the end of the hall (in a cubby) if needed.

On the main floor there is a large open living/ dining space. The table has leaves and can seat 6-8. Off the room there is a small morning sun deck on one side, an afternoon sun deck on the other, and a screened -in porch off the back with a view. The porch - where we like to spend most of our time- has a couch, a chair hammock, and a dining table that seats up to six.

The eat-in kitchen is well equipped (no dishwasher yet) with a new fridge and stove and everything you need for cooking and eating. It is thoughtfully stocked with quality staples, condiments etc....

There is a beautiful new bathroom addition (please note the shower is outside - it is private and so far all our guests have enjoyed it as much as we do). There is also a tub inside with great a view. Shampoo, conditioner and soap is provided and there are lots of towels for bathing and the beach.

In the entry porch there is a washer and dryer.

There is wi-fi, no satellite television, but there's a monitor, a dvd player and a few dvds. There is also a good selection of books and some board games.

The house is older. It is not a 'perfect' house and there is always work that needs to be done. We've had it as our summer place since 2009, and we slowly make improvements and fix a few more things each year. Its well loved, very comfortable and welcoming.

Acceso para huéspedes
Guests are welcome to anything we have not put aside. This includes a barbeque. There is a fire pit on the property. You can purchase wood from the local campground. But please of course be careful with it.

Otros aspectos destacables
It is a country house and all that entails, including being on well water and septic. Please be mindful of water usage and also don't put anything in the toilet other than toilet paper.

Although the yard is private, there are neighbours on either side. We are respectful of noise levels and expect the same from renters.

Ubicación

Dingwall, Nova Scotia, Canadá

We picked this location because it really is a particularly beautiful and special area. Although close to many tourist favourites and activities, it is a bit of its own world, with new discoveries still to be had and spots where you can still find solitude.

It is only a 5 minute drive to one of the best beaches you will find anywhere and just a few more minutes down the road to stunning coastal views, hikes and spots to take in the sunset.
Also very close by, you can rent kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and bicycles. You can also organize to have a guide for hikes- especially for extra special, local known spots and trails.
There's lots of fresh seafood to be had - lobster, crab (in season), mussels, and oysters, either at the campground, the nearby resort or at one of the local restaurants. There's a particularly nice cafe/bakery/diner super close.
There are two small grocery stores- both which also sell liquor in the area and on Saturday mornings there is local farmers/crafters
market.
A 30 minute drive takes you to Ingonish and the well known Keltic Lodge and world famous Highlands Links for the golfers.

I'm from the East Coast of Canada. I teach traditional yoga, write, and swim in the ocean whenever I can. I care about social justice, integrity and trying to live a good life. I'm much funnier and irreverent than any of these descriptions might lead you to believe. I'm both a good host and a good guest.
