The village is at the foot of mountain Heliconas and overlooks the plain of Copais (a lake which has been drained in the late 19th century) .In Greek Mythology, mountain Helicon was known for 9 Muses, daughters of Jupiter, and the area of Ypslantis was known for Tilphussa Nymph and her spring where Prophet Tiresias left his last breath.
In the village you can find a grocery store and taverns/coffee shops where you can enjoy coffee, food and tsipouro or ouzo.
Moreover, on the top of the mountain, after a 10 min car drive, you can find the monastery of St. Nicholas, which is dating back to the 10th century. A.D and surely someone should visit it for its architecture, the source that springs crystal water all year round and wonderful view.
Also, in the mountain there is a Medieval tower of the 13th century AD, which one can reach by 20 min path paths enjoying, the view and lush nature.
Moreover, on the nearby village, you can visit Petra’s waterfalls (courageous can also dive) (15 mins by car).
If you are lucky and you are in the village around 12 September, you can attend “Ypsilandia”, a celebration event with glorification in the Monastery, events and dances in honor of Dimitrios Ypsilantis and the battle of Petra in 1829, which marked the Independence of Greeks from Ottomans-Turks. If you are even more lucky and you are in the village in July you can attend a municipal feast with the biggest names municipal scene.
For those who want to explore the wider area, at distances from 20 'to 40' they can visit Levedia where they can visit Trofonios’ Oracle and Kria Springs. There, they can walk near Erkina river and can enjoy picturesque view from a café or restaurant.
Moreover, you can visit also other traditional villages at Helikonas mountain, such as Koronia, Agia Anna, Zeriki, Kyriaki and Stiri. At Stiri you can visit one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites, Hosios Loukas Monastery, which was built around 10th Century AC.
Additionally, from our village you can reach popular destinations of Parnassus such as Delphi, with the remarkable Delphi Oracle and Archaeological Site, the winter resort Arahova, and the historic village Distomo, which is unfortunately known for Nazi’s massacre in 1944. .
If you have time is really interesting a visit to Orchomenos to admire the Mycenaean tomb of Minyas, Mary Skripou Church, and in Chaeronea to admire the marble statue of Lion, which is marking the battle between Thives/Athens and Mecedonians, and the Archaeological Museum of Chaeronia.
