The NOMAD'S NEST is a charming private studio with a kitchenette, bathroom, & communal hot tub. It is an eco-friendly & globally inspired space entirely crafted by us with thoughtful touches throughout. Our guests often comment that it has been their favorite airbnb experience. We welcome nomadic travelers from across the globe! Please note that you climb a flight of stairs to reach it. We charge an additional one time fee of $25 if you require the set up of the sofa bed.
Thoughtfully custom built & decorated by us. We sourced our local RE-Store for materials, our nomadic adventures, & creativity. Guests have described our space by using the word “hygge,” a Danish term defined as “a quality of coziness and comfort that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being.” Pronounced “hoo-guh,” the word has no direct translation in English, though “cozy” comes close. We think this word perfectly captures what we strive for. The Nest provides a cozy retreat for a couple or solo traveler. It can also accommodate a third adult/child on a sofa bed (1 x set up fee of $25).

We are avid adventure seekers who are sometimes torn between our nomadic and nesting instincts. Together we have traveled to over 40 countries. We are huge fans of Asia and our most recent nomadic wanderings took us to Burma (Myanmar) where we spent two years teaching at an international school. We have also been lucky to call Nepal, Egypt, Venezuela, and Tanzania our respective homes. Occasionally our nesting instincts kick in and we return to our home in Bellingham. We love this area for all of the wild spaces right at the doorstep. We enjoy outdoor activities like mountain biking, hiking, mountaineering, rock climbing, and skiing. We are happy to share our knowledge of local adventures with you. K recently worked at a non-profit school for at-risk youth and A works as a fine furniture craftsman. Occasionally A skips out of the shop to lead mountaineering courses for NOLS (the National Outdoor Leadership School). We live with our two cats, Tenzing & Mingba who are also a bit nomadic. They traveled and lived with us in Myanmar and Tanzania. However, they much prefer the nesting life and are happy to be home. We look forward to meeting and sharing our spaces with you. Here's to new adventures!
