A home with full safety measures for a get away from constant indoor stay of lockdown and a perfect destination for work from home, equipped with 24 hrs fast Wi-fi and power supply, in the current COVID pandemic. Our home is fully sanitised, follow strict social distancing and avoid large gatherings. Safety comes first to our limited number of guests. We make sure guests have their time spent well in the calm surrounding amidst our home, located right in the heart of the city, which also is a plus point for guests for commuting and morning or evening stroll.
Our home was rebuilt after sustaining extensive damage during the 2nd World War by the Japanese military bombers. I renovated the ancestral home from 2007 onwards during my holiday breaks from abroad. My whole concept for restoration of the house is to give a peaceful and homely ambience to my guests who are on a lookout for a blissful stay in Imphal city. The location of my house is ideal for all travellers to try out authentic local dishes and pure vegetarian food at walking distance. The famous Asia's only women's market, "IMA Market" is just a stone's throw away, a buzzing place where one can see the unstoppable activities of Manipuri women, also the historic Shamu Makhong, statue of the then Maharaja Bhagyachandra taming the wild elephant in Assam during his days in exile. Kangla Fort, the sacred place where one get to know the rich heritage and culture of Manipur is five minutes walk. Within the Imphal city area, all locations are easily accessible either a short walk or hire an Autorickraw to visit Govindaji temple. All taxi and bus stands to tourists destinations from Imphal are easily available from the doorstep.
My life motto is to enjoy every moment and be kind to others. My ideal style of hosting is to be helpful and offer help and opportunities to interact with the local Manipuris. I have studied and worked in the UK for 40 years as Professor of Agricultural Sciences and returned back to Imphal (May 2016) after voluntary retirement to contribute to the development of Manipur where possible.
My favourite travel destinations are Switzerland, Ireland, USA, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand and China. I enjoy hill walking, swimming, action movies, music (e.g. Beth Hart and Joe Bonamasa) and French and Indian cuisines.
Me and my wife visited Ukhrul District recently to observe the unique vegetation and biodiversity in the Siroi area. In deed reaching top of the Siroi Hill after 2 long hours of trekking gave an astounding view of Ukhrul. An hours drive from Ukhrul is Nungbi, where artisans make famous black stone pottery. It was a delightful trip as well. The Ukhrul Region is very scenic and rugged.
Thaza and I have just returned after trekking to Everest base camp with friends from India (20 September to 8 October 2019). We trekked for 12 days non stop with no rest day for acclimatisation from Phablo near Kathmandu, as our flight to Lukla was cancelled due to bad weather. We covered 131 km of remote foot paths during the 12 days to EBC via Gorakshep which included a 3 day return trek from Gorakshep to Lukla airport. Overall the experience is deeply rewarding as the journey proved worthy of the mental and physical challenges. I would recommend this trip to all who are interested in this highly rewarding experience.i
