(URL HIDDEN)contemporary Pueblo Style Alpine Chalet, designed & built by an award winning Architect/Owner. Perched just below the National Forest, it commands a 100 mile panoramic view of the Rio Grande Valley.

El lugar

This is an uplifting and aesthetic environment with generous picture window views, indirect interior lighting with dimmers, Wi-Fi, central stereo, home theater and Roku, vaulted ceilings clad with Idaho pine, a quiet and serene retreat in the alpine forest.

Note: Reservations must be made ONE WEEK or more in advance. We do not accept last minute bookings.

Disponible para huéspedes

NOTE: 4X4 Four Wheel Drive (4WD) is necessary to access the property for several days after 8"+ snow storms OR TO USE THE STEEP DRIVEWAY and park a mid-size vehicle in the garage on the second level ANYTIME OF YEAR. There is a lower parking area for conventional and large vehicles with a short (40') moderately steep path up to the house. So, from there you must carry groceries and luggage to the first floor of the house.

The HOT TUB is NOT AVAILABLE FROM January 10 - MARCH 22. There is an oversized Jacuzzi Spa Bath in the main bathroom.

This house is for physically fit people (I'm 71, but used to it). It is at 8,400 ft. elevation on a short steep mountain slope with 4 vertical levels connected by half flights of stairs, and an equally steep bed raised up two steps. The view from the main bed is above the treetops..... for 100 miles. Cool, but it may not be for you.

We have an open closet in the huge bathroom with our clothes hanging and stored and personal belongings in our primary residence.

Atención a los huéspedes

Michael's home has a spectacular view of the valley below. The ever changing monsoon season adds flair and color as the day sets into night. If you want to read, hike, or just be; Michael's house would be a good choice.

Upon arrival we were greeted with an immaculate home, breathtaking views and a bottle of champagne! Michael left us an incredibly detailed guide to the house that proved helpful for operating the place. It is hard to describe the beauty of the setting and the spectacular panoramic view afforded from the upper deck and master bedroom. Priceless. The outdoor grill, chef's kitchen, beautiful cedar-slab dining room table, comfy king bed (and I'm a bed snob), and arial decks were all excellent bonuses. And our kids couldn't get enough of the hot tub! Thanks for making us feel welcome in such a great house. There's nothing like it in the hotels in town .... or even in most homes!!!! --Josh & Lucia

We had a good time. The house was confortable for 4 but I do not know for 6. Distance to the slopes and the city of Taos was good. Nice views. Dirt road to access the property would be challenging for small cars since with the slope melting it was full of pot holes and mud. The hot tub was not operational but we were advise in advance. Overall what we expected.

Waking at Vistas Puesta Del Sol is an event, not just another morning. Press a button from the king-sized bed, the shades rise and a huge expanse of northern New Mexico appears before you. Head downstairs to the kitchen, which has an equally good view, and grab an espresso or coffee from the Gaggia espresso machine and it’s a fabulous way to start the day! Retreat back to one of three decks with a glass of wine or hit the hot tub and it’s a great way to end a day of hiking, rafting or fishing. Our family of four greatly enjoyed our stay at Michael’s home. It is comfortable, has an interesting design and extremely well equipped. We didn’t do much cooking but the kitchen clearly has enough to prepare a large meal to serve a big group. The beds were good, linens comfortable and bathrooms large. The master bath is huge. The second bedroom is on a lower level and essentially part of a home office – somewhat tight and the view isn’t quite as good. Arryo Seco is a great local location from which to base exploration of the area. The house is up the end of a long dirt road providing seclusion yet Taos and Taos Ski Valley are both within 20 minutes. There are hikes literally out the front door. We loved the greeting by the neighborhood dogs whenever we arrived home! Due to a late arrival we were unable to meet with Michael but he provided very clear instructions regarding directions, use of the home and turned on the lights so we could easily find the house. Inside, all is labeled clearly and Michael provides a very easy-to-understand handbook on the use of the house and area destinations, stores and attractions. Great house, great host and fantastic location. We hope to be back!

You know those Dos Equis commercials with "the most interesting man in the world"? This is your host, Michael, a man who has travelled and lived across the world, skiing, hiking, flying, constructing, creating. You get to stay in his home full of art, items, and books accumulated through many years of adventure. Michael himself is very kind and humble but the family pictures sprinkled about reflect a thoughtful and adventurous life. The books around the home are plentiful and varied, from a Pop-up-Kama-Sutra to Traditions of Adobe, from Hiking Nepal or Recognizing Colima Art. On practical terms, the house fits 6 comfortably and has all the amenities of a well-loved home. Hot tub under the stars to soak calmly, hammocks on the woods to rest, fire pit for good conversation, grill to barbecue dinner, hikes outside the door that lead to a cascade, and a few miles away... the artsy fun stores of Arroyo Seco. One couple went swimming, while another fishing, as the third one cooked lunch. Very easy flow. If u can't quite get away, the house has wifi and we did watch a World Cup soccer game, there's also movies and music, but we spent our time in the woods. I also want to add that one of our friends has a disability and walks on crutches so the closeness to the bosque and the hammocks outside helped have a nice stay outdoors. We also had a near 1-year-old with our crew and the house was perfect to accommodate everybody. Finally, we asked for permission to bring 2 dogs and they had the most fun, they were outside in the woods 24/7 even though they are city dogs. Even when we went to town, they stayed outside. A new, freeing experience for the four legged too. I highly recommend Michael s place. I am sure the low rates won't last too long so take advantage!
