El alojamiento
Please, please read the entire listing details as well as the reviews. Welcome to 10 acres of Wild, Wonderful, West Virginia!! Wildlife galore; deer, fox, squirrels, turkey, rabbits, pileated woodpeckers, eagles, hawks, tons of birds, and more. The acreage borders the "Rails to Trails" walking trail and the West Fork River, although the river isn't real accessible. Let nature call in our heavily wooded, serene land. No hunting, of course. Things provided are the following: Twin bunk beds w/ mattresses and bedding/pillows, extra blankets, composting toilet w/ pine chips, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, dishes/silverware, cast iron skillet(s), outdoor metal fire pit (with a grate that you can cook on), utensils, cups, dish rags, dish towels, dish soap, LED string lighting (which lights up the cabin quite nicely), a large bowl for a sink/basin, dishrags, some tea light candles for the lanterns, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, smoke detector, CO detector, and two bag chairs. Additionally, we keep jugs of tap water on the porch for general use. You can also charge devices with the power pack, too, although it won't power anything large like a fan, coffee pot, heater, etc. And, the lighting won't last as long if you use the power pack for charging other things. It will run the LED string lights approximately 20-25 hours with not being used to power anything else. We try to keep a second power pack charged, too, in case you run out of “juice”. I've tried to include pictures of everything to give you a better feel although from time to time things change and/or get replaced. We live on the property so we are here if you need something or forgot to bring something. Things you may want to bring: food/drinks/water, of course, lanterns/flashlights, "C" batteries, tea light candles, camp stove, foil, bug spray, etc. (the normal camping accessories). I refer to the cabin as "semi-primitive" as it DOES NOT have a shower, running city water, electric, or plumbing, but as mentioned, does have lighting and a home-made composting toilet. Also, there are plenty of trees/limbs/kindling laying around the grounds so you may want to bring an ax, hand saw, etc. for the outdoor fire pit. We try to keep firewood stocked and there is an axe inside (currently), although from time to time we run low.

Update: I've since added a Mr Heater Buddy Heater for your use. So, bring plenty of 1 LB green propane bottles during the colder months. It will run for 2-3 hours on low on a 1 LB bottle. You can pick them up at places like Walmart or Lowe's. Walmart four-packs are the least expensive. The heater is 9,000 BTU's so on most moderate days it will heat the cabin up just fine. However, if it's real cold out, it struggles. Plan accordingly. I would also bring house slippers as the floors are cold in the winter.

Also, we have full LTE cell phone service coverage here with our phones as there is a cell tower on the closest ridge.

NOTE: If you have a special request such as a pet, an additional request for a site for tent camping (in addition to the cabin booking), RV parking, etc., please send a request as we have fulfilled various requests before. We will address on a per occurrence basis and additional fees will apply.

Acceso para huéspedes
The one-room primitive cabin and the entire 10 acres at your call. The cabin boasts solid hardwood Hickory flooring, large 3' x 3' windows, a loveseat, small dining area/nook, and a covered front porch.

Otros aspectos destacables
As mentioned, there are times of the day when you can hear more noise than normal (rush hour, etc.). Most every single guest has said it doesn’t bother them in the least, though. The property is sloping so it can be a trek when navigating. PETS MAY BE allowed for an ADDITIONAL FEE with prior approval, but years ago an old glass plant dumped slag at the top of the property so it's common for glass to keep emerging from the soil. It is the forest so it's dark and there are critters (the good cute ones and ones that most aren’t too fond of (coons, skunks, spiders, occasional black snakes and even coyotes, etc.). We don’t really mind any of them, as this is their safe haven just outside the city. Smoking is ONLY permitted outside or on the covered porch so as you do it responsibly as we are in the woods. Also, please do not throw butts on the ground or cans/glass in the fire pit. And, don’t leave trash outside the cabin as coons WILL get into it.

Also, I was listed on Airbnb's #1 "wish-listed" listings in 25 top WV cities. Link below.

Listen to the sounds of wildlife or the soothing train across the river. Keep in mind that one side of the acreage is on the corporate city limit line, so you may hear some city-like sounds (cars, dogs, etc.) There is a county road above the property and during certain times of the day you can hear cars (people going to/getting off work). There is also acreage across the county road where ATV riders ride sometimes. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty quiet, but I want to disclose everything I can think of.

The cabin is accessible via it's own entrance off the County Road; The entrance off the County Road (pictured) is accessible but an AWD/4WD vehicle is recommended, especially if raining. If you do not have an AWD/4WD, you should be okay. The property (as most is in WV) is not flat. Most of the acreage is sloping. And, I would recommend arriving before dark so you can see to get settled. There are no street lights on the County Road where you pull in and there are no lights leading down to the cabin.

Check-in is 3pm-6pm , check-out is by 10am, however these time MAY BE slightly flexible depending on other bookings.

Once you book or request to book and the booking is accepted, I will send attraction links, directions, and some additional cabin notes.

Also, I a feel strongly about good communication (both ways). I do my best to respond in a timely manner and I expect the same. Keep in mind that this is a primitive cabin on our acreage and that we live on the acreage, too. This is not a hotel where the corporation doesn’t care about what you do or your well-being. We care. We strive to be the best hosts we can be (as you can see by our reviews), but I feel all of this needs noted, especially to those of you new to Airbnb. As most do, we feel respect and trust are important things. We have had theft and breakage from guests, etc. so we’ve seen a thing or two. We just ask that you be honest, straightforward, and respectful.

Thank you! We look forward to having you as a guest!! We are certain you’ll enjoy your time at the cabin!!

Legal Note: Booking this cabin constitutes you, the Guest, to not hold us, the Host(s), legally liable for any injury, damage, or loss. Indemnification will not be considered other than what insurance you or Airbnb may have/carry.

We are Rick and Kelly. I work in oil/gas and Kelly works for a hospital. We love spending time on the acreage, working around the land, and feeding/watching all of the wild critters that we have provided a safe haven for. The cabin is not only an Airbnb rental, but also a place where we stay when company comes in. We built and designed it ourselves. It’s small, but cozy, and works great for a few nights!
