Relax in a private, fully equipped Casita with stunning views of East Oakland and the Bay. This newly constructed one-bedroom guest house in the quiet Eastmont Hills neighborhood has everything you need to work and play. Enjoy lounging in a hammock on the deck or on the couch streaming movies to a 32" television. Brand new stainless steel gas range and full-sized fridge make cooking a breeze, or you can partake in booming Oakland's restaurant scene.

El alojamiento
I've created the Casita to host visiting family and the rest of the year, to host the world! It was such a wonderful experience to be a part of designing and building a unique small house with a spacious feel. I would describe the style as eclectic: rustic elements, like an exposed wooden beam; industrial accents in the lighting and fixtures; and the warmth of Talavera tile and vibrant colors paying homage to Mexico. It's a little over 400 square feet, plus a 11x10 foot deck, which basically adds a room! The washer/dryer and kitchen make it totally self-sufficient for a short or longer stay.

Acceso para huéspedes
Guests have the whole space to themselves and their own separate entrance via stairs to the deck and french door entry.

Otros aspectos destacables
I provide some simple breakfast supplies: coffee, tea, creamer and oatmeal. The kitchen is fully equipped and stocked with cooking basics, like olive oil and a few herbs and spices. I leave some leftover condiments like bottled salad dressing and soy sauce in the fridge for others to use.

I provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash and bar soap. The bathroom cabinet has some basics like shaving cream, razors, sun screen, cotton swabs, etc. as well as useful items that guests have left behind; you are free to use anything you like.

My dogs Olive and Leo are friendly and love to greet guests. They have their own fenced area so they won't pester guests for snacks and pats :). When I'm home, they sometimes lounge outside in the sun, but are always inside when we are out.

I provide a parking space, and having a car is a plus for most guests. However, a car is not essential: some guests find it more economical to take Uber or Lyft around town or to the Coliseum BART station to catch trains into San Francisco. It's about a 20 minute ride via BART to downtown SF.

Oakland, California, Estados Unidos

Eastmont Hills is a diverse neighborhood of well-kept homes below the 580 freeway and several steep blocks above MacArthur boulevard. I've lived in Oakland since 1985 but only recently moved to this neighborhood, in 2017. I find new things to love about it every day! There is an open space park just a half a block away, great for stretching your legs, watching the sunset and taking in the view of Mt. Tamalpais in Marin, four bridges, and the Oakland and San Francisco Skylines. You can hear the mockingbirds singing and the owls hooting, see hawks hovering above the hillside and enjoy the brilliant magenta of bougainvillea that seems to thrive here.
To be transparent, it is East Oakland: you may hear occasional sirens from MacArthur Blvd down the hill or the momentary throb of bass from someone driving by enjoying their music a little loud; and you can't leave stuff in your car in plain view and expect it to be there in the morning. It's also not a super convenient neighborhood: public transit is spotty, no restaurants to walk to, and it is a little further away from downtown. That said, I feel safe, the neighbors are way friendlier than my old neighborhood, the Mediterranean climate is lovely and the views spectacular.

I grew up in the Bay Area and have lived in Oakland, CA, since 1985. I love hiking with my dogs, Olive and Leo, cooking spontaneous meals with friends and enjoying the diversity and vibrancy of Oakland. I enjoy traveling and these days often visit Massachusetts to visit two of my three young-adult kids. I can't live without trees, fresh air, my Italian stovetop espresso maker, access to organic veggies and fruits and a gas cooktop (well, I could...), and especially, my dogs.
